Decorated Military Officer Mr. Pan Youfa Arrested, Detained, and Beaten for His Belief in Falun Gong

(Minghui.org) Mr. Pan Youfa, 65, is Falun Gong practitioner from Shenyang City, in China's Liaoning Province. He was arrested by agents from the Shenyang and Xinmin Domestic Security Divisions, as well as the Xibeijie Police Station, because he was a Falun Gong practitioner, when he visited his friend Hu Lin on August 28, 2012.

 

Mr. Pan was brutally beaten and illegally arrested. He has since been held at the Xinmin City Detention Center.

 

Mr. Pan’s family has gone to many agencies to appeal for his immediate release, including the detention center, court, 610 Office, Shenyang Domestic Security Division, and various provincial government agencies. However, as is typical in situations involving Falun Gong practitioners, officials in each agency simply shirked responsibility, and refused to help.

Falsely Charged, Evidence Fabricated

Following Mr. Pan's arrest, officer Ma Lixin of the Shenyang Domestic Security Division colluded with Su Jianping, Xinmin Domestic Security Division chief, and Wang Bingyuan, Xinmin Domestic Security Division deputy chief, to fabricate evidence to prosecute Mr. Pan.

 

Chen Hongyan, from the Prosecuting Division of Xinmin Procuratorate, worked with the Domestic Security Division and 610 Office agents to submit the falsified documents to Xinmin Court, to be used in Mr. Pan's trial.

 

Presiding judge Jing Lianzhu and chief judge Ji Xingdong scheduled the trial for March 18, 2013.

 

After carefully examining the prosecutor's files and facts of the case, Mr. Pan’s attorney determined that the so-called “evidence” had unequivocally been fabricated, putting a dent into the authorities' plans to try Mr. Pan.

 

 

Severely Beaten During Arrest

During his meeting with Mr. Pan in the detention center, his attorney learned that the police were not wearing uniforms at the time of Mr. Pan's arrest. They also had not presented any identification or legal documents, as required by law.

 

The officers had shoved Mr. Pan down to the ground and forcibly handcuffed his hands behind his back. The handcuffs were very tight, and his hands swelled, causing his wrists to bleed.

 

Shenyun Domestic Security Division agent Chen Fuyang and other officers beat Mr. Pan and injured his legs and chest.

 

During the arrest, Mr. Pan was also stabbed with a knife, causing injury to his arm. However, those involved lied, claiming that Mr. Pan had attacked them with a knife.

 

Mr. Pan said police officer Chen Fuyang beat him many times during the arrest and subsequent interrogation, including grabbing him by the hair and knocking his head hard against a wall. As a result, Mr. Pan was covered with bruises and experienced severe headaches and dizziness.

 

The attorney requested that Mr. Pan be given a physical checkup, which revealed that a large amount of fluid had accumulated in Mr. Pan's brain.

 

 

Family Appeals to Secure Mr. Pan's Release

Mr. Pan's arrest and injury case are under the jurisdiction of the Xinmin City Court. Even though Mr. Pan committed no wrongdoing and was severely injured by police, the court officials have refused to release him.

 

When Mr. Pan's family requested his release, they were told by court officials that this decision would come from Shenyang Domestic Security Division, 610 Office, and the Political and Legal Affairs Committee. His family subsequently went to these and other government agencies to appeal for justice and secure Mr. Pan's immediate release, but to no avail.

 

The Chinese Communist regime claims that China is governed by the law. Yet, when innocent people who have violated no laws and committed no crimes are arrested without reason, court officials dare not release them, choosing instead to follow orders from the lawless 610 Office and Domestic Security Division, which specialize in persecuting Falun Gong.

 

 

An Outstanding Military Officer

Mr. Pan is a former military officer. He has completed many missions, including flood rescues and fire fighting at Daxingan Ridge. He took the lead in each of these missions and was recognized by the military for outstanding service numerous times.

 

During his years in the military, Mr. Pan developed many health problems, and he tried many medical treatments to improve his physical condition, but to no avail.

 

 

Illnesses Disappear After Practicing Falun Gong

As Mr. Pan was seeking medical treatment in May 1996, a doctor of Chinese medicine specializing in hard-to-treat diseases suggested that Mr. Pan try Falun Gong.

 

After three months of practicing Falun Gong, Mr. Pan's health problems miraculously disappeared. He benefited greatly both physically and mentally, becoming more peaceful and kind.
