(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Wang Hongliang and Ms. Wang Aiying are from Wu'an City, in the Handan Region. They had been illegally detained for 18 months as of December 2012. During that time, a judge from Wu'an City Court held a secret trial and sentenced them to imprisonment. The couple then appealed to the Handan City Intermediate Court. However, in August 2012, the Handan City Intermediate Court dismissed their case under the pretext that the facts provided were unclear, and sent it back to the Wu'an City Court. The family has tried to talk to the judge and the Procuratorate several times to request their release, but to no avail.

Officers from Chengguan Police Station, the 610 Office, and the Domestic Security Division in Wu'an City arrested the couple near their home in Xiangyangqiao at about 6:00 a.m. on June 1, 2011. The police then ransacked their home and confiscated their computer, a notebook PC, a DVD writer, a printer, and other personal belongings. They also stole 15,000 yuan in cash. The Wu'an City Procuratorate later brought criminal charges against the couple in Wu'an City Court. Their case was suspended for eight months however, until chief judge Chen Jianguo held a secret trial in February 2012. He sentenced Mr. Wang to three years in prison and Ms. Wang to four years. Mr. and Ms. Wang's family and lawyer from Beijing weren't notified of the judge's verdict until Mr. Wang's family called the court on March 2, 2012. Chief judge Chen told them over the phone, “Don't come to me. Just go to the police station or Handan City to appeal.”

Both husband and wife appealed to Handan City Intermediate Court, however their case was dismissed and returned to Wu'an City Court in August 2012. Ms. Wang is currently being detained in the Handan City No. 1 Detention Center, and Mr. Wang is being held in Wu'an City Detention Center.

Before she went to see her mother in Wu'an City, Ms. Wang lived in Anyang City, Heinan Province. She was arrested several times by officers from the Domestic Security Division in Wu'an City and Anyang City. Officials at Wu'an City Police Bureau sentenced her to three years in a forced labor camp in 2001, however she wasn't accepted by the forced labor camp because she didn't pass the physical exam. Mr. Wang was born in Yucheng, Wu'an City. He married Ms. Wang sometime in 2002. Wu'an City police also sentenced Ms. Wang to two years in a forced labor camp in 2001, and detained Mr. Wang in Handan Forced Labor Camp.

Officers from the Wu'an City Police Bureau arrested Mr. Wang's father in 2001 for telling people the facts about Falun Gong. A Wu'an City Court judge sentenced him to four years in prison. As a result of being tortured in prison, Mr. Wang's father is now paralyzed and is no longer able to take care of himself.

Officers from the Wu'an City 610 Office, Wu'an City Police Bureau, Wu'an City Domestic Security Division, and Wu'an City Political and Legal Affairs Committee have been conspiring in persecuting practitioners since the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999. Between July 1999 and June 2012, Mr. Wang Gaibian and Mr. Zhao Shenxing both died as a result of persecution, while another practitioner was driven to insanity; two non-practitioner family members have passed away after their family was arrested; 46 practitioners were sentenced to forced labor; 11 practitioners were sentenced to prison terms; over 200 practitioners were detained; more than 1000 practitioners have had their freedom restricted or were sent to a brainwashing center; over 500,000 yuan in cash has been extorted from practitioners, and 16 have received death threats.
