(Minghui.org) On February 25, Chinese media produced a high-profile report on the “National Human Organ Donation Video Conference,” which was jointly held by the Chinese Health Ministry and the Chinese Red Cross. During the conference, authorities announced the establishment of China's first-step national organ donation system. Deputy Health Minister Huang Jiefu admitted again in his speech that China is the only country that systematically uses the organs of death row inmates, while claiming, “Our transplant doctors can finally apply their skills on the big stage, aboveboard, and with dignity.”
What Huang implied was that the reason Chinese doctors have not been able to do things aboveboard is because they have been using transplanted organs from prison inmates. His words appear to be reasonable, but in reality he is simply trying to cover up the facts by replacing them with twisted logic.
Death row inmates are only a small portion of those who suffer as a result of the organ transplant business. Falun Gong practitioners, who have been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for more than 13 years, constitute the largest group of people that have been executed for their organs.
Human organ transplants have been performed in China for dozens of years. In the early days, the CCP always touted the marvelous skills of its doctors. For example, Huang Jiefu attended the 50th anniversary celebration of the Formation of Uyghur Autonomous Region in Xinjiang in September 2005. To celebrate the occasion, he did a liver transplant for a middle-aged cancer patient. During the process, two spare livers were delivered to the transplant site, one each from Guangzhou and Chongqing. The media reported on the event with great fanfare.
Global Medical Community Denounces the CCP's Actions
In March 2006, the CCP’s harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners’ organs for profit was reported on by overseas media. That China had become the world's second largest organ transplant country was not a fact welcomed with open arms. The Chinese transplant doctors who had previously and proudly boasted of their advanced techniques were now criticized, and their fabricated image as decent and ethical doctors was shattered.
As the investigation of the CCP’s organ harvesting of organs from Falun Gong practitioners moved forward, more and more facts were unveiled. Presented with the evidence, the world condemned the CCP harshly, despite the fact that the CCP denied its own base actions all the while. In 2005, Huang Jiefu admitted that the majority of Chinese transplanted organs came from death-row inmates. After altering its explanation at least six times, the CCP adopted Huang’s claim and have since stuck to it.
No matter how the CCP denies its behavior, the world’s condemnation grows stronger and stronger. When over 100 Chinese doctors attended the first World Transplant Congress, held in Boston in 2006, accusations of the CCP’s organ harvesting practices attracted a great amount of attention. Attendees from many countries expressed their frustration and discontent with the CCP's ill-advised actions. Condemned by their fellow doctors, the Chinese doctors were visibly embarrassed. The director of the Organ Transplant Research Institute in Tongji Hospital, Cheng Zhonghua, submitted a letter to the conference that he was too embarrassed to share with his peers.
The European Organ Donation Congress, held in England in September 2010, refused to invite any Chinese doctors to attend. A doctor from New Delhi, India, said, “What we can do now is refuse to allow any Chinese doctors to attend any international organ transplant gatherings because their behavior violates the charter of the Organ Donation Congress.”
One hundred and sixty Chinese doctors attended the 24th International Congress of the Transplantation Society held in July 2012. But these doctors acted as though they were under a strict curfew: they were transported in three buses to designated locations and only convened with everyone during lunch. Not a single doctor stepped outside unless it was required for travel. The CCP would not let any of its doctors attend the open forums held by the non-governmental organization Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting because experts from all areas were discussing the organ harvesting crimes in China, specifically those involving Falun Gong practitioners.
At the end of 2012, 3,000 prominent doctors from Taiwan signed a declaration denouncing the CCP’s organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners and criminals of conscience
In late February 2013, the Taiwanese medical community and the Department of Health held an international conference to help Taiwan establish organ transplant laws. Many overseas experts attended to lecture and listen. The Taipei Bar Association passed a declaration against the CCP’s unethical organ harvesting, which represented the first of such actions taken by lawyers internationally.
The CCP Targets Everyone
People of conscience, the so-called “enemies of the people,” were the first to suffer from organ harvesting at the hands of the CCP. Until Falun Gong's rapid growth throughout China, all people of conscience who were against the CCP’s policies were the main targets of organ harvesting for dozens of years. However, when faced with millions of Falun Gong practitioners who dared to stick to the principles of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, the CCP’s ideology was expanded to include a new policy: “Beating to death is considered suicide.” Under such a policy, Falun Gong practitioners became the prime targets of the CCP’s immoral organ harvesting.
Prior to the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong, the number of organ transplants per year, as publicized by the CCP, was about 3,000. After the persecution of Falun Gong began, the number rapidly increased to over 10,000 per year. Overseas experts estimate that, in order to provide organs for the 10,000 transplant operations each year, there must be a huge human organ supply that numbers in the hundreds of thousands. Such a quota could easily be met by the dozens of concentration camps that hold Falun Gong practitioners.
The Atrocities Continue: Another CCP Attempt to Dupe the World
The new “organ donation system” that the CCP has created today is merely a way for the regime to cope with the world’s condemnation of its organ harvesting practices. It is merely an attempt to disguise the CCP's harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners’ organs. Aside from the fact that such organ transplant systems require many years to become fully operational, how practical is it for the CCP to truly stop harvesting organs from Falun Gong practitioners? Where would the regime find substitutes for the human organ supply comprised of hundreds of thousands of people? In addition, an organ supply comprised of Falun Gong practitioners is very inexpensive and convenient, and organs are available whenever needed.
Until it stops the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, the CCP will not stop harvesting organs from Falun Gong practitioners.
