(Minghui.org) Dr. Hu Jinzhao, a physician at the Yunnan Mental Institution, disappeared suddenly at the end of December 2011. His family only learned in late January of 2012 that he had been illegally arrested by the authorities and was being held at the Wuhua District Detention Center in Kunming City. His family went to the detention center several times, and their visitation requests were denied each time. They learned in February 2013 that he had been sentenced to three years in prison in April 2012, and transferred to Yunnan No. 1 Prison in January 2013.
Mr. Hu started practicing Falun Dafa in 1998, followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be a better person. However, since the Communist regime began its suppression of Falun Gong in 1999, Mr. Hu suffered both physically and mentally.
Mr. Hu was arrested while he was on duty at the hospital on March 14, 2002, by officers from the 610 Office, Guandu District Domestic Security Division, and the Panlong District Domestic Security Division. He was taken to the Guandu District Detention Center. One month later, he was released on bail.
Mr. Hu was arrested again in November 2004 and sentenced to three years of forced labor. He was incarcerated at the Yunnan Province No. 2 Forced Labor Camp. He was beaten and tortured and his term was extended for another 40 days. He spent three years and 40 days in the labor camp.
Mr. Hu was arrested and taken to the Songhua Nursing Home in Chenggong County on November 24, 2011 by 610 Office agents. He was released on November 30. One month later, he was arrested again and has been detained to this day.
