(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhu Wenhua, from Nankai District, Tianjin, was beaten to death in Gangbei Prison (now called Binhai Prison) by prison guards and inmates on July 21, 2010. The prison authorities called Mr. Zhu's family and said that he had died from a heart attack.
The following is additional information about Mr. Zhu's death:
Mr. Zhu developed intestinal problems in July 2010, and he was unable to have a bowel movement. He asked for medical treatment. The guards took him to the prison hospital, and the doctor prescribed some lubricant without any examination. Mr. Zhu felt bloated from the constipation. Therefore, he stopped eating. However, the guards and inmates forced him to eat, and then tortured him to death in a storage room.
The guards ordered inmate Zhang Jincai to remove the video monitor from the storage room on July 22, the day after Mr. Zhu's death. Zhang was also told to paint the wall to cover the mark left by the monitor. This way people wouldn't be able to tell that there had been a monitor in that room, and the video of Mr. Zhu's death was destroyed. The prison authorities claimed that there was no monitor in that storage room. However, people who had been to that room could testify that there had been a monitor.
The inmates who beat Mr. Zhu to death are: Wang Jianfeng, Zhang Di, Zhang Qingguo, and Feng Jie. They were moved to the Strict Management Team of the No. 8 prison section the day after Mr. Zhu's death. They were released 15 days later.
The inmates declared that if they were punished or if their release was affected, they would expose all the details of Mr. Zhu's death. The four inmates were not punished.
Nobody has been held responsible for Mr. Zhu's death.
