Additional Persecution News from China – February 21, 2013 (7 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 6 cities or counties in 5 provinces. According to this report, 8 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 2 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Li Facing Trial

Ms. Wang Li, from Dadong District, was arrested by officers from the Dadong Police Department on November 2, 2012. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to the Heping Hospital that evening to have a physical exam by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Heping Police Department. The exam found that she had high blood pressure of 220 mmHg and myocardial ischemia (inadequate blood flow to the heart muscles). She was released on medical parole on November 22, 2012, after being forced to pay the 2,000 yuan exam fee and an additional 5,000 yuan.

Heping District Procuratorate summoned Ms. Wang on November 27, 2012, and told her that she would be tried after the 2013 New Year.

2. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Yan Tingzhen Abused at Qianjin Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Yan Tingzhen is being held at Ward No. 1 of the Qianjin Forced Labor Camp. Because she mentioned in her “thought report” (required by the authorities in their attempt to “transform” Falun Gong practitioners) that she had been deprived of sleep, section chief Wang Min ordered others to strip off her clothes and lock her in a small cell for one day at the end of January 2013.

The perpetrators also slapped her face until it became swollen, and she became feeble because of the abuse. She fainted at meal time and regained consciousness only 10 minutes later.

3. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Liu Huayu and His Wife Detained

Mr. Liu Huayu and his wife, Ms. Chen Yufeng, were arrested at home on April 15, 2012. They are still being held at a detention center.

4. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Yao Shaoyuan and His Wife Arrested

Under the orders of the Jinzhou 610 Office, officers from the Xingshan Police Station deceived Mr. Yao Shaoyuan into going to the station on the morning of February 18, 2013. Agents from the 610 Office then arrested Mr. Yao's wife at home and took both of them to the Jinzhou Police Department. Mr. Yao and his wife were released later that night.

Officers from the Jinzhou 610 Office went to Mr. Liu Jinfu's home in Sijiazi Village and attempted to arrest him on the same day. They went to Mr. Liu's home again that evening, but Mr. Liu was not at home.

5. [Xiangyang City, Hubei Province] Ms. Liu Yusheng Detained for Nearly a Year

Ms. Liu Yusheng was arrested by officers from the Xiangzhou District Police Department on May 13, 2012. She had been held at the Xiangzhou Detention Center for over nine months. Deng Yongshan, chief of the Domestic Security Division, and other officers planned to send Ms. Liu to prison, but the case was rejected by the court.

On the morning of February 19, 2013, the Xiangzhou District Police Department sent Ms. Liu to the Wuhan Women's Forced Labor Camp for a one-year term. However, the labor camp authorities refused to admit her because she had high blood pressure and a heart problem.

Ms. Liu was then finally released. She was picked up by her family on the afternoon of February 20, 2013.

6. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Ding Hongjuan Detained

Ms. Ding Hongjuan was arrested when passing the security check of the Harbin Railway Station on the afternoon of February 16, 2013. She was taken to the Harbin Detention Center that night.

7. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Bian Lichao's Wife and Daughter Beaten

In order to get through the legal procedures to get Mr. Bian Lichao released on medical parole, his wife and daughter went to the Baoding Prison on the afternoon of February 19, 2013, to ask for his medical records. Director Hou of the prison hospital and Shi Zhiyong, chief of the Prison Political Section, not only refused their requests, but also pushed the daughter to the ground.

When the mother went to help her daughter, Shi Zhiyong stopped her and beat her. The mother and daughter were then taken into custody by officers from the Wuqi Road Police Station. They were released at 5 p.m. the same day.
