(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Aiying from Wuan City, Hebei Province, has been illegally detained and persecuted by Wuan authorities for two years. In March 2013 her family hired a lawyer from Beijing to her appeal case. On April 27 guards threw her lawyer out of the courtroom. As a result he could not meet with the second judge, Yan Yan.
Initial arrest
At 6 a.m. on June 1, 2011, officers with the Chengguan Police Branch in Wuan and Wuan National Security Team took Ms. Wang Aiying and her husband Mr. Wang Hongliang to the Wuan Detention Center. Police confiscated a variety of personal items and 14,900 yuan in cash. Zhao Bo and Yu Weiping, the Wuan public prosecutors, charged the couple without interviewing them. (As a side note, Zhang Lihua and He Xubing, captains of the National Security Team, and Chengguan Police Branch officer Zhang Aibin are all being investigated by the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong.)
In February 2012, Wuan City Criminal Court judge Chen Jianguo secretly put them on trial without informing their lawyer or their family. On March 2, 2012, when they called the court, the family learned that Ms. Wang Aiying had been sentenced to four years imprisonment and Mr. Wang Hongliang to three years.
Her husband released
Practicing Falun Gong is legal according the Chinese Constitution. The couple appealed to the Handan City Intermediate People's Court. In September 2012 Handan City Intermediate People's Court confirmed that the evidence was unclear and sent the case back to the Wuan Court Criminal Court for a second hearing. With the help of Falun Gong practitioners from China and overseas, the media and good people, the Wuan Court approved an application to withdraw the case filed by the Wuan Procuratorate in January 2013. On February 2, 2013, Mr. Wang Hongliang was released after being held for 20 months.
The Public Prosecution Division of Wuan Procuratorate released Mr. Wang Hongliang on bail and closed his case, but they did not release his wife, Ms. Wang Aiying.
Sentence and appeal
On March 1, 2013, Chengguan Police Branch supplied false evidence and once again brought charges against Ms. Wang Aiying, who was detained in Handan City First Detention Center. Wuan Court tried and sentenced Ms. Wang to three years on March 18, 2013. She appealed again to the Handan City Intermediate People's Court.
Previous incidents of persecution
Ms. Wang Aiying was sentenced to forced labor for three years because she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in October 2001. Due to health reasons she did not go to the labor camp. On June 1, 2011 she was arrested by Wuan National Security Team and has been detained for nearly two years.
The Wuan 610 Office, Wuan Police Department, Wuan National Security Team and Wuan Political and Legal Affairs Committee already persecuted at least two Falun Gong practitioners to death and one to mental collapse between July 1999 and June 2012. Two family members died because there was no one to take care of them. A total of 46 were sent to forced labor. One of them was sent to forced labor twice, and one, three times. Eleven people were given prison terms. More than 200 were detained. Over 1,000 people were monitored and sent to the brainwashing center. A total of more than 500,000 yuan in fines was collected, with the indirect economic loss being immeasurable. Sixteen people passed away from the stress of fear.
From 1999 to 2012 the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong listed about 50 individuals in Wuan City as being responsible for the persecution in that area, including:
