66-Year-Old Woman Secretly Sentenced to Four Years in Prison

(Minghui.org) Ms. Yu Guixiang, 66, was secretly sentenced to four years in prison by officials from the Penglai police department, Procuratorate and court without any trial. Her family was not informed, and they don't know when and where she was sentenced. Ms. Yu is being held at the Yantai City Detention Center. Her 83-year-old mother is doing poorly without her.

Ms. Yu is from Daxindian Town in Penglai City. Since learning Falun Gong, she has conducted herself according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in her daily life and strives to improve. However, she was persecuted many times because of her belief. She has been arrested three times and sentenced twice to forced labor since 2005.

Details of recent arrest

On the evening of January 21, 2013, she was arrested again by officer Xu Lilin and others from the Dongcheng Police Station in Sanhe City, Hebei Province, while she was reading Zhuan Falun to an older woman with terminal breast cancer. Officer Xu and others battered down her door and windows and arrested her. She was then taken to the Magezhuang Brainwashing Center in Penglai City on March 7, and was later transferred to the Yantai Detention Center in Shandong Province. Her family is not allowed to see her.

Past arrests

Ms. Yu was arrested while clarifying the truth at the market in 2008. She was detained in Penglai Detention Center for two months and was then sentenced to one and a half years at Jinan City Forced Labor Camp in Shandong.

Ms. Yu and Ms. Men Hongfen were both arrested on the morning of April 7, 2010 while clarifying the truth in Daxindian Town on market day in Penglai City. They were taken to the Magezhuang Brainwashing Center for 13 days that same afternoon. After they were released, officers from the Penglai Police Department passed their case file to the local court and wanted to sentence them. In order to avoid further persecution, Ms. Men and Ms. Yu had to leave home.

Ms. Men Hongfen's husband used to be deaf. After he started to practice Falun Gong, his hearing returned. Because of the harassment and pressure from local officials, he couldn't take it and became very ill, and went to the hospital. Ms. Men was arrested and taken to the Penglai Detention Center while looking after her husband in the Penglai Hospital of Chinese Medicine. She was later sentenced to four years in prison on January 2011. Her husband, Mr. Chi Weiguo, died on January 16, 2011.
