(Minghui.org) In recent years, many farmers have become accustomed to applying chemical fertilizers to their vegetable crops. They apply such chemicals two to three times during the growing season so that their crops can grow big and heavy, yielding more income. On the surface, their incomes increase, but those vegetables are considered harmful to consumers because of the potential for causing many illnesses.
I practice Falun Gong, and our Master has taught us to be considerate of others and to live up to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. As a Dafa practitioner, I cannot apply chemicals to my vegetables to cheat consumers out of a genuine product. Master expects us to be good people — to be better than good people.
Therefore, I cannot sacrifice virtue for money.
So this past growing season, I dug 12 long trenches on my farm, applied animal manure, and buried the trenches again. I put down seeds for cabbage on July 17, and it rained two days later. I planted radishes on the 23rd, and they came up three days later.
We had rain showers every few days for a month and a half. The manure I put down was soaked into the soil, and the radishes were fully grown in 50 days. When I took them to the market, They were two inches thick and fives inches long, and they were white with a hint of light green at the top. Many people came to look at them, and said that it was hard to believe that chemicals had not been used to grow them. I replied that it was alright if they did not believe me, but to just try them first. Those radishes applied with chemicals have a bitter taste, but my radishes were sweet and a little spicy. People began to buy them one at a time, and then came back for more. Many said that they could eat them like fruit.
When I brought my cabbages to the market, people not only bought the cabbage hearts but they even bought the tougher outer leaves for making pickles. Economically, compared to the past when I used to apply chemicals to my crops, I made almost three times more money this season.
Therefore, if a person has a good heart, even gods will help him. Isn't this right? I did not use any chemicals on my crops, but because of the good weather, I made more money in the end.
As for fertilizer, there are many good ways to use it. One option is to use animal manure. One application is good for three years, and it is much cheaper than applying chemicals. Why don't you try it. You might just be surprised by the results.
