The warden’s name is Fan Qinpin. She is known to always use electric batons when trying to “transform” Falun Dafa practitioners.
Newly-arrived practitioners are usually sent to Prison Area 14 (Prison Areas 13 and 14 are reserved for Falun Dafa practitioners). If there are too few “assistants” in Area 14, then the practitioners are sent to Area 13. Except during mealtime, prison guards play videos that defame the founder of Falun Dafa Master Li and Dafa, materials related to Taoism, Confucianism and other religions, or they read books that slander Dafa. They try to force practitioners to sign pre-written guarantee statements. A practitioner won't experience physical abuse if she signs the statements; however, if she refuses to sign, she is subjected to all types of abuse and torture, such as being berated, forced to sit or stand for long periods of time, beaten, shocked with electric batons, sent to solitary confinement, poked with needles, etc.
The prison guards are especially brutal to steadfast practitioners. They often beat them 'till midnight, forbid them to sleep, and have collaborators take turns trying to “transform” them. They order inmates, to poke practitioners’ bodies and faces with needles. Sometimes the guards themselves take part in the torture. For the practitioners suffering this torment, every minute is like a year of suffering
All practitioners wear a label reading, “Regular,” “Strict,” or “Strictest.” Even practitioners who were “transformed” still need to be “examined,” and answer questions to the guards' satisfaction. If the guards are satisfied with the examination, those practitioners are sent to different prison areas and are made to do forced labor alongside the other inmates (such as making clothes) to make money for the prison.
