(Minghui.org) My school moved into a new building in mid-November 2012. There was no new furniture at the beginning, so we had to move the old office furniture into the new building. My colleagues each began selecting good furniture for themselves.
Someone took the office furniture I had, and my files were scattered on the floor. Some others took more than one set of furniture, and I did not have any at that time. My boss was angry about what happened and said, “Some people are excessively selfish.” I replied, “As long as they are happy I am fine. It is just a small inconvenience. I can still work. Don't worry.” My boss saw that I was not angry and said, “I know that Dafa practitioners are good people.”
There was new furniture in every new classroom. Some classes had extra sets of furniture. I saw a new desk in my old office and it had been sitting there for several days. So I moved it into my new office. Next day someone told me, “Our director wants the desk in your office moved to the hall downstairs for all teachers to use for signing in.” I became agitated upon hearing this. I thought everyone had a new desk and I was taking the one no one else wanted. Yet, they purposely picked on me. The more I thought about this the more angry I became, forgetting that I was a practitioner.
During the noon recess I heard someone say, “When people bully you and you don't fight back, they won't say that you are tolerant or have self-restraint. Instead, they say you are weak and have no guts,” When I heard this I thought to myself that I would not give up my desk and would fight to keep it.
But thanks to Teacher I then remembered that I was holding onto human notions, and remembered the following statement from "Fa Teaching at the 2009 Washington DC International Fa Conference" to my mind,
“Be considerate of others when you do things, and look at yourself when you get into disagreements.”
I understood that I should follow this principle, because I am a practitioner not an everyday person. The reasoning used by everyday people is often the opposite of what the Fa requires. I then realized that the incident was to help me improve my character, and that I should be thankful for what had happened.
It is like what Teacher said in “Drive Out Interference” from Essentials for Further Advancement,
“The Fa can break all attachments, the Fa can destroy all evil, the Fa can shatter all lies, and the Fa can strengthen righteous thoughts.”
I understood that my feeling of being unfairly treated was caused by jealousy. The need to protect myself belongs to the old universe. The new universe wants people to be selfless and willing to help others instead of fighting for personal gain.
With this improved understanding I moved the desk in my office downstairs into the hall and cleaned it up. I then picked an old desk for myself and used a small knife to remove the dirt that was stuck to it.
One colleague said to me, “You are exceptional. I wouldn't be able to do what you just did.” I replied, “My Teacher asked me to do it this way. I should focus on helping and supporting others in every situation.”
