Additional Persecution News from China – May 17, 2013 (17 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 10 provinces. In the report, 11 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 13 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Chang Chun Detained

Ms. Chang Chun from Yaojia, the Ganjingzi District, Dalian City, was arrested by officers from the Nanguanling Police Station for talking to people about Falun Gong on the afternoon of May 12, 2013. Her home was ransacked. She is being held in the Yaojia Detention Center in Dalian.

2. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Seven Practitioners from Daqing City No. 10 Oil Extraction Factory Arrested

Seven practitioners from Daqing City No.10 Oil Extraction Factory were arrested on the evening of May 14, 2013. Their homes were ransacked.

3. [Duchang County, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Yin Yucai, 82, Persecuted

Mr. Yin Yucai, 82, was the head of the Duchang County Schistosomiasis Prevention Station. He was held and tortured in the Jiujiang City Forced Labor Camp and Yuzhang Prison in Jiangxi Province for a total of 11 years, beginning 1999. He was beaten, verbally abused, and injected with unidentified drugs for extended periods in prison. Because of that, he could not think clearly when he was released in 2011. He continued practicing Falun Gong after his release and gradually recovered his health over two years. The Duchang County Schistosomiasis Prevention Station authorities have discontinued Mr. Yin's retirement pension of 2,000 yuan and his minimum living allowance of over 1,000 yuan from last year.

In addition, the Duchang County Schistosomiasis Prevention Station authorities withheld three month's wages from Mr. Yin's daughter, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yin Xianping.

4. [Weishi County, Henan Province] Ms. Wang Meirong Detained

Ms. Wang Meirong, 45, was arrested on the morning of May 6, 2013. Her home was ransacked. She is being held in the Kaifeng Detention Center.

5. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhou Jian and Mr. Zhang Jian Arrested

Mr. Zhou Jian from the Xianan District, Xianning City, was arrested by officers from the Xianning Chezhan Police Station on the morning of May 15, 2013, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. Several officers barged into his home that afternoon and ransacked it. His computer and Falun Gong books were confiscated. Practitioner Mr. Zhang Jian happened to stop by Mr. Zhou's home. Seeing officers ransacking the home, Mr. Zhang explained the facts about Falun Gong to them. The officers violently beat him and arrested him, too.

6. [Huangmei County, Hubei Province] Many Practitioners Persecuted

Agents from the Huangmei County 610 Office and the Domestic Security Division went to Tianbao Village, Caishan Town, to harass Mr. Chen Jingui and his wife early in May 2013. The couple had to leave home and are now moving from place to place to avoid the persecution.

Those agents, plus more from the Caishan Town government and the police station, seven or eight in all, went to Lanqiao Village and arrested Ms. Gan Xuerong and Ms. Xiaomei. Ms. Gan was taken to the Hubei Provincial Brainwashing Center. Ms. Xiaomei was released.

7. [Jiangmei City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Hong Xingen, 51, Arrested

Ms. He Fengyun was taken to the Dongjie Police Station for distributing informational DVDs about Falun Gong on the morning of May 16, 2013.

9. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Li Weiping Arrested

Mr. Li Weiping was arrested by officers from the Xuanwu Police Station on the morning of May 15, 2013. His home was ransacked.

10. [Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Qian Jierong Detained and His Home Ransacked

Mr. Qian Jierong from Wuxi City, in his 70s, was arrested by officers from the Rongxiang Police Station in the Binhu District for putting up informational materials about Falun Gong on the evening of April 26, 2013. Officers took his key from him and used it to access his home and ransack it. They confiscated a laptop computer, two MP3 players, and a cell phone (The cell phone was returned later). Mr. Qian was held until the next afternoon and released. The police beat him and broke one of his teeth while ransacking his home.

Mr. Qian has been detained, cruelly beaten, and forced to serve forced labor many times since July 20, 1999. He was taken to the Jinxing Police Station in the Nanchang District in November 2006, where he was so violently beaten that he lost his hearing and some of his teeth. After that, he was sent to a forced labor camp for a term of one year. In 2008, he was taken to the Wuxi City No. 2 Detention Center to serve a forced labor term again. Officers from the Rongxiang Police Station barged into Mr. Qian's home around August 27, 2010, to confiscate his computer, printer, and other items, and took him to the Longshan Hotel, where he was held for ten days. On October 23, 2010, officers from the Rongxiang Police Station arrested Mr. Qian at his home again and made him serve one year of forced labor. When his family came to take him home when his term was over on August 27, 2011, they were told that Mr. Qian had already been transferred to the Xinghua City Brainwashing Center in Jiangsu Province. He was finally released on September 27, 2011.

11. [Tianjin] Ms. Lili Detained

Ms. Lili was arrested by officers from the Tucheng Police Station on the morning of May 9, 2012. She is being held in the Hexi District Detention Center. Over 20 officers ransacked her home. Ms. Lili was followed for some time before the arrest.

12. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhao Yuhong Taken to Linglong Brainwashing Center

Ms. Zhao Yuhong from Zhaoyuan City was arrested on the afternoon of May 16, 2013, for posting facts about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Linglong Brainwashing Center in Zhaoyuan City.

13. [Bozhou City, Anhui Province] Ms. Wang Ling and Other Three Practitioners Detained

Ms. Wang Ling, Ms. Wang Huaiqin, Ms. Wu Mingxia, and Ms. Liu Chuanrong from the Qiaocheng District, Bozhou City, were reported to the police and arrested on the morning of May 15, 2013, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in Xinji Town. They are being held in a detention center.

14. [Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Wang Lixia Transferred to Gongzhuling City in Jilin Province

Ms. Wang Lixia and two other practitioners were arrested by officers from the Tongliao City Domestic Security Division on the evening of May 11, 2013. They were held in the Hexi Detention Center in Tongliao City. Ms. Wang suddenly developed symptoms of heart disease on May 12, and was rushed to the hospital three times. On the afternoon of May 16, she was taken to the Dongsan Police Station of the Gongzhuling City Police Department in Jilin Province.

15. [Zhangqiu City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Mingsen Blinded Due to Beating

Over 60 practitioners including Mr. Liu Mingsen from Chiping County, Jinan Province, are being held in the No. 7 Team of Shandong Province No. 2 Forced Labor Camp. Team head Wang Baohua violently beat Mr. Liu on April 31, 2013, because he refused to take an exam. As a result, his eyes were engorged with blood and his face swelled up. He was sent to see an ophthalmologist twice but still cannot see anything.

16. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhao Peng and Family Persecuted

Mr. Zhao Peng from Rizhao City was arrested on April 13, 2013. Ten officers circled the store run by Mr. Zhao's wife and son on the afternoon of May 16, 2013, and attempted to arrested them. Officers grabbed Mrs. Zhao by her head and smacked it against a wall. She managed to escape. Their 20-year-old son was arrested.

17. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Torture Continues in Qianjin Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Sun Shumin was forced to sit on an iron chair from April 3 until noon on April 7, 2013, because she refused to wear the prison uniform and demanded to be released unconditionally. During those four-and-a-half days, her arms were cuffed to the chair behind her back most of time.

Mr. Hao Peijie refused to count off and refused to do the forced labor on March 29, 2013. As a result, No. 1 Team political instructor Yang Yan and guard Cong Zhixiu took him to the third floor, forced him to take off his clothes, and tied him to a radiator. He could not squat or stand up straight. They opened the window so that he would freeze in the cold. They then forced him to sit on an iron chair. Mr. Hao started a hunger strike on April 1, 2013. They force-fed him on April 6 with a mixture of food and drugs.
