(Minghui.org) Xinpu District Court of Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province held a secret trial of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Meng Jun, under the direction of the Lianyungang City 610 Office and Xinpu District 610 Office.
No official verdict was announced during the trial. Instead, the court conspired with the Lianyungang City and Xinpu District 610 Office and covertly sentenced Mr. Meng to three years in prison. Meng's family was only able to find it 50 days later. They requested a written judgment, but the court refused with the excuse that the judgment could not be given to the family.
Mr. Meng was illegally arrested and his home ransacked on September 11, 2012 by authorities from Lianyungang City 610 Office, Xinpu District 610 Office and Xinpu Police Station. He was interrogated at Xinpu Domestic Security Division and later transferred to Lianyungang City Detention Center. Mr. Meng's family did not receive an arrest notification until October 18. There was no other notification until they received the trial notice on the day of the trial.
Mr. Meng's trial was held in the criminal court. During his self-defense, Mr. Meng started by stating Falun Dafa taught people compassion. He was immediately cut off and his four-page written defense was snatched away. He wasn't allowed to speak again. Chief Judge Chen Lidong raged, “You are not allowed to talk about this!” He threatened Mr. Meng with three to four years of prison and announced the trial adjourned. Judge Chen later threatened Mr. Meng's family by saying he would sentence him to a dozen of years in prison because of his “poor attitude.”
Mr. Meng was then abruptly given a three-year prison sentence. It appeared that the outcome of the trial had been predetermined.
Mr. Meng is 39 years old and from Xinpu District of Lianyungang. He has been conducting himself according to Falun Dafa's principles of Truthfulness- Compassion-Forbearance since he started his cultivation in 1996. He also became a healthy and considerate person.
Mr. Meng helps his wife with all kinds of housework. One time, a boy, who happened to visit his home, noticed he was busy with housework and asked if he was afraid of his wife. Mr. Meng answered, “We in a family should help one another. The housework should be shared. My wife is very busy. I should contribute my share.” The boy said, “My dad doesn't do a bit of housework, and my mom is exhausted. I have to tell him to help mom.”
Mr. Meng never hesitated to help anyone in need. When his friends got sick, he would help pay their medical bills and treat them as if they were family. Mr. Meng's wife Guo Lan said, “It's hard to find anyone as nice as him, except among Falun Gong practitioners!”
