(Minghui.org) Mr. Sun Guanghui, from Lushunkou, Dalian City, Liaoning Province, was illegally arrested in 2012. His family has not received any information about him since his arrest. They asked officials from the Lushunkou District Court for more information, but did not receive any communication until March 2013, when the judge admitted that Mr. Sun had been secretly tried in January.
Agents from the Lushunkou District Domestic Security Division and the Tieshan Police Station--about seven officers in total--went to Mr. Sun's home on September 27, 2012, and arrested him. They ransacked the residence and confiscated many of Mr. Sun's belongings.
Mr. Sun's wife, who does not practice Falun Gong, went to court twice to ask about her husband's case. Judge Yu Sen did not answer her directly and lied to her.
Mr. Sun's wife went to court again in March. The judge told her that her husband's case was very complicated and suggested that she stay at home and wait for information.
Mr. Sun's family then hired an attorney, who went to speak to the judge on their behalf. At that point, judge Yu Sen revealed that Mr. Sun had already been tried, so there was nothing a defense attorney could do.
Mr. Sun's wife was very angry. “How could you try a person without notifying their family?” she asked. She was told it was done so the family “could not make trouble,” and that it was okay to hold a trial without notifying the family.
She later found out that Mr. Sun had been secretly tried at 3 a.m., and the whole process had taken only half an hour. It was done in a rush, without a defense attorney or any family present; only the prosecutor, judge and police were there.
In presiding over this case, judge Yu Sen did not do things according to the law. Instead, he considered the oral order from the 610 Office as the law.
For many months after Mr. Sun's arrest, his wife was closely monitored by police. On April 12, 2013, on the same day when many Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in Dalian City, police officer Jia Luo and agents from the Neighborhood Administration Office parked a police vehicle by her residence at 6 a.m. They did not allow her to leave home until the afternoon.
