A rare document exposing the facts about the torture of Dafa practitioner Mr. Hou Yanshuang from Lingyuan City suffered at Shenyang Prison was recently made public. It revealed the names of more persecutors involved who were unknown in the past.
Mr. Hou Yanshuang, a former employee of the Lingyuan Steel Company in Liaoning Province, was arrested on October 21, 2001 by personnel from the company security division, Lingyuan City 610 Office and police station, for his belief in Falun Gong. He was illegally sentenced to 14 years in prison by the Lingyuan City Court. During his imprisonment at the No. 1 Area of Shenyang Prison he was tortured to the point of developing multiple serious diseases, including level three high blood pressure, heart disease, and two different types of stroke. His family members strongly demanded his release for medical treatment, but were denied. On April 3, 2011, Mr. Hou died from the tortures at the age of 50.
The document revealed that, “The deputy chief of the No. 1 Area of Shenyang Prison
He Yingjie led the way in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.” “The Prison Administrative Section chief Jia Ke incited inmates Liu Tiefeng and Wang Weihai on August 27, 2002 to brutally beat practitioners Hou Yanshuang and Fang Lianwu on their backs and the back of their heads with rubber tubes. Mr. Hou reported the situation multiple times to the prison superintendent Mu Jiali who used all kinds of excuses to avoid his responsibilities. He Yingjie insisted on practitioners' transformation and didn't allow them to have physical checkups.”
The then deputy chief of the prison area Wang Xiaobo “incited inmates to brutally persecute Dafa practitioners, and did not allow them to use the restroom. Mr. Hou's condition worsened rapidly due to the tortures. He had whole body twitches, pain, numbness and cold chills. He could not lay down, sit, or stand. His eyesight and hearing grew worse and worse. He could not speak clearly and had to write instead.”
According to the document, “the prison personnel once turned a letter from Mr. Hou's relative over to the Lingyuan City Police Department. As a result, his relative was extorted 20,000 yuan by the police department. The deputy chief Zhan Xiangquan used all means to block the information from leaking out. Mr. Hou was at the Comprehensive Hospital of Liaoning Province at that time. Even so, the prison personnel demanded him to return to do labor. After Mr. Hou left the hospital the chief of the prison area Shi Zhan requested him to sign a statement saying that he himself demanded to leave the hospital. A person was assigned to closely watch the every move of Dafa practitioners and report to the prison personnel.”
“Mr. Hou died from the tortures on April 3, 2011. While he was examined at the hospital, the chief doctor Chen and the prison area chief cooperated to deceive Mr. Hou about his physical condition and didn't adopt corresponding treatments. When Mr. Hou asked the doctors, they told him he was fine. However, when the doctors and the prison area chief were talking, Mr. Hou overheard their conversation and realized he was in critical condition. However, the prison personnel ignored his need for immediate medical treatment. Mr. Hou's family members saw his condition was very bad and they contacted the prison many times. Because of this, the prison finally took Mr. Hou to the hospital. After staying there for a period, Mr. Hou was twice forcibly removed from the hospital.”
According to previous reports, the day he was taken to Shenyang Prison on August 27, 2002 Mr. Hou was brutally beaten by inmate Liu Tiefeng under Jia Ke's instruction. His cervical and lumbar spine were severely injured and the prison didn't give him treatment, causing him to have the sequela of hyperostosis.
Mr. Hou appealed many times and received no response. His family members strongly demanded his release for medical treatment but the chief of the prison Wang Bin said, “There are only two ways the bail out for medical treatment can be granted. One is to write a guarantee statement giving up Falun Gong, and the second is that the hospital issues a notice of critical illness.”
