Additional Persecution News from China – July 15, 2013 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from mainland China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 13 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 15 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Chongqing] Mr. Gu Jiushou Detained

Mr. Gu Jiushou, in his 70s, is a retired engineer who worked in a lab at Chongqing University. He was arrested on the morning of July 14, 2013 in the Shapingba District, and is now held in the Shuangpai Police Station.

2. [Hongjiang City, Hunan Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Yang Xiaohui, Ms. Tang Qingying and a practitioner surnamed He were arrested on the morning of July 13, 2013, as they were distributing informational DVDs about Falun Gong and the persecution in Yuanhe Town. The town police made the arrest. Mr. Yang and Mr. He have been released, but Ms. Tang is still detained in the police station.

3. [Fufeng County, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Feng Xinxiang and Mr. Tian Zhiyao Sent to Prison

On August 3, 2012, officers from the Fufeng County Police Department arrested four practitioners, Mr. Feng Xinxiang, Mr. Yao Wenhui, Mr. Feng Cunlu and Mr. Tian Zhiyao. Fufeng County Court officials secretly tried the practitioners on December 5, and sentenced them to one to two and a half years in prison. The practitioners planned to exercise their right to appeal. The court released Mr. Feng and Mr. Yao on December 28.

4. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Hongxia Sent to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Wang Hongxia from Shengfang Town was arrested by officers from the Hexi Police Station on the evening of July 13, 2013. She was distributing informational DVDs about Falun Gong and the persecution. She is now in the Langfang City Brainwashing Center.

5. [Xinzhou, Shanxi Province] Ms. Bai Ruifang Sent to Prison

Ms. Bai Ruifang was sent to Shanxi Province Women's Prison on July 8, 2013.

6. [Boli County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Fengcheng Detained

Mr. Liu Fengcheng from Qixin Village, Yongheng Township was arrested on the evening of March 29, 2013. He is currently in the Harbin City No.1 Detention Center.

7. [Tieling County, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wen Changlin and His Brother Mr. Wen Changjiang Detained

Mr. Wen Changlin and his brother Mr. Wen Changjiang from Liqianhu Town were arrested on July 12, 2013. They are currently in the Tieling County Detention Center.

8. [Dazhou, Sichuan Province] Mr. Deng Dahua and Mr. Chen Qinghua Arrested

Mr. Deng Dahua and Mr. Chen Qinghua were arrested at home on the afternoon of July 12, 2013. Their homes were ransacked.

9. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Niu Guifang Detained for Nearly a Year

Ms. Niu Guifang from the Shenbei New District was arrested on the evening of July 19, 2012. She has been held in the Shenyang City Detention Center for nearly a year.

10. [Datong City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Jiang Xiaoli Harassed and Threatened

Ms. Jiang Xiaoli from Yongjiu Village, Xinwang Township was harassed and threatened by Cheng Hai, a village security officer.

11. [Zhangqiu City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Chuanyong Sent to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Zhang Chuanyong was arrested by officers from the Railway Police Station on July 11, 2013. His home was ransacked. He was taken to the Yingxiong Brainwashing Center in Jinan.

12. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Four Practitioners Detained

Three plainclothes police officers broke into Ms. Sun Shuying's home on the morning of July 14, 2013. They arrested Ms. Sun, Ms. Song Jiling and two male practitioners. They also confiscated Ms. Sun's computer, printer and other personal belongings. The four practitioners are currently in the Changjiang Road Police Station.

Ms. Song Jiling's husband Mr. Wang Zhansuo is still held in Shandong Province No.1 Prison.

14. [Panzhihua, Sicuan Province] Ms. Chen Xiangzhi Died As a Result of Persecution in Prison

Ms. Chen Xiangzhi, former director of the Workers' Union Club of the Panzhihua City Mining Bureau, has been illegally arrested and detained twice since the Chinese Communist Party started the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999. She was imprisoned in a forced labor camp for one and a half years and in a prison for eight years. She was brutally tortured in prison and was released on November 2, 2009. Ms. Chen passed away on July 10, 2013.

15. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Song Yanqun and Ms. Guo Wenshuai on Hunger Strike to Protest Mistreatment and Abuses in Prison

Ms. Song Yanqun was sent to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City for a three-year term. She was brutally tortured during the time. When her term was up, she was not released but given another seven years in prison. She started a hunger strike to protest the persecution. She became emaciated and was sent to the Changchun Public Security Hospital. We learned that her condition has deteriorated and her life is in danger.

Ms. Guo Wenshuai is from Changchun and was sentenced to eight years in prison. She was sent to a prison in winter 2011. She has been on a hunger strike for more than two years to protest the illegal imprisonment.
