(Minghui.org) Mr. Wang Hongbo, a Falun Gong practitioner from Yueyang City, is in his 70s. He was illegally arrested on July 6, 2013, and beaten by local officials and police. They also ransacked his home.
As Mr. Wang walked past the Qianlianghu Town government building at approximately 9 p.m., a black car stopped behind him. Yuan Chunhua, director of the judicial bureau, stepped out of the car and tried to seize his backpack. Mr. Wang refused to cooperate.
Yuan grabbed Mr. Mang's bag with force and seized a copy of Zhuan Falun, Minghui Weekly, and a phone book with contacts of family and friends.
Yuan then attempted to arrest Mr. Wang. He called the town's People's Congress chairman Zhang Shanwen, 610 Office head Peng Changhua, and two police officers for help.
The five took away Mr. Wang's house keys, slapped him and attempted to cover his mouth. Mr. Wang's right leg was injured and bleeding.
He shouted "Falun Dafa is great!" Peng then threatened to suspend his pension. Afterward, Zhang and Peng brought him to the Administration of Justice.
Subsequently, Yuan and the two police officers headed to Mr. Wang's house and conducted an illegal search. They confiscated Falun Gong books and informational materials, the picture of Falun Gong's founder, as well as several hundred yuan in cash.
They detained Mr. Wang at the local police station and interrogated him until 1 p.m. the following day. He did not answer any of their questions.
Finally, they allowed Mr. Wang’s son to come and take him home.
