(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhang Xiuhua, in her sixties, is a retired worker from the China Second Petrochemical Construction Company in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. She was arrested on May 29, 2013 by officials from the Nanjing 610 Office, and is being detained in the Nanjing Detention Center. This is the fifth time she has been arrested.
Ms. Zhang began practicing Falun Gong in 1999. She has since acted in accordance with the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. In 2003, she found a gold necklace and returned it to its owner, who was very grateful.
Due to the Chinese regime's persecution of Falun Gong, she and her husband Mr. Sun Genluo have been arrested by the local police and the officials from Qixia District of Nanjing several times during the past few years. Their home has been ransacked and they have been detained in brainwashing centers and detention centers.
Bo Zhenghui, an officer from the Nanjing 610 Office, went to Ms. Zhang's home at around 2:00 p.m. on May 29, 2013, and told her family that Ms. Zhang had been arrested. He and several police officers from the Raohuamen Police Station showed no identification or documents, and began ransacking the home. After two hours of searching, they confiscated a computer, Falun Gong books, and other personal belongings without leaving any accounting of what they had taken.
Huo Zongbing, the director of the Yaohuamen Police Station, later called Ms. Zhang's daughter and ordered her to go to the police station. There they attempted to force her to assist them in forcing her mother to renounce Falun Gong. She was threatened with losing her job if Ms. Zhang refused to give up the practice. They also threatened Ms. Zhang's husband and tried to coerce him into pressuring Ms. Zhang.
Arrested Multiple Times
Pan Shiqing, director of the Qixia District 610 Office, brought several officers and a police dog to Ms. Zhang's home on June 2, 2007, and ransacked it, while Ms. Zhang was being detained in a brainwashing center. They videotaped the entire process and showed her the recorded video. It included footage of her daughter crying, asking her to renounce Falun Gong, and her nephew, three years old, begging her to come home. When Ms. Zhang tried to tell Pan about Falun Gong, he didn't listen, and began beating her.
Ms. Zhang was arrested again in May 2011, and was sentenced to forced labor. When she was later released on parole, Pan told her, “We will defame you on the Internet.” Agents from the 610 Office tried to create conflicts for her via the Internet, but failed. Pan and some other officers then went to Ms. Zhang's home to threaten her.
Ms. Zhang was arrested yet again on November 6, 2012, and sent to a brainwashing center. There she told the people around her about Falun Gong. She was soon released. The 610 Office ordered installation of a video surveillance camera in front of her home to monitor her.
Officers from the 610 Office have gone to her home during the past year to harass her, and try to persuade her to give up Falun Gong, but failed. They also tried to cause conflicts between her and other practitioners, but Ms. Zhang did not believe anything they told her.
Bo Zhenghui and officers from the Nanjing Domestic Security Division, including officer Gao (given name unknown), arrested Ms. Zhang again on May 29, 2013.
