Additional Persecution News from China – May 9, 2013 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from mainland China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 17 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 16 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Liu Defu Sentenced

As a result of torture, Mr. Liu Defu developed cerebral vascular occlusive disease, and was taken to the hospital on April 22, 2013. He left the hospital on May 3, but he is still being detained. Mr. Liu was sentenced to three years in prison by the judge from Dadong District Court in Shenyang City. He appealed to the Shenyang City Intermediate Court, but the verdict was upheld.

2. [Jinxian County, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Wan Taoying Arrested

Ms. Wan Taoying was arrested on April 30, 2013.

3. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Additional Information on Ms. Zhang Guixia's Arrest

Ms. Zhang Guixia, 56, from Tianyi Town, Ningcheng County, Chifeng City was arrested by officers from the Tiedong Police Station in Tianyi on January 30, 2013 when she was clarifying the truth to people at a market. She was later transferred to a local detention center, and was released on the evening of February 3, 2013.

Officer Xing Zuoli and others from the local county Domestic Security Division burst into Ms. Zhang's home on the morning of May 6, 2013, to arrest her. She had to leave home and become homeless in order to avoid further persecution.

4. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Chen Zhengda Arrested

Mr. Chen Zhengda from Shenyang City was arrested, and is being held at the Yuhong Detention Center in Shenyang City. His family is not allowed to visit him.

5. [Qian'an City, Hebei Province] Mr. Li Zhili Arrested

Mr. Li Zhili from Qian'an City was arrested on the morning of May 7, 2013 at his shoe shop, which is located in Caiyuan Town, Qian'an City. His shop was ransacked.

6. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Additional Information on the Arrest of Mr. Zhang Huabin

Mr. Zhang Huabin used to work at the Nianzishan District Industrial and Commercial Bureau in Qiqihar City. He was arrested on June 19, 2012 and sentenced to three and a half years in prison. He was taken to the first branch of the Eighth Ward of the Tailai Prison. He was beaten frequently because he refused to renounce his belief, and was monitored by many inmates.

7. [Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Li Xinrong and Others Arrested

Ms. Li Xinrong, 51, and four other practitioners were arrested at Feng County in Jiangsu Province on May 4, 2013. She has been transferred to Xuzhou City.

8. [Jimo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Xiuying Arrested

Ms. Zhang Xiuying, in her 70s, from Lingshan Town in Jimo City was arrested on the morning of May 8, 2013 by officers from the Bei'an Police Station, while she was clarifying the truth at Bei'an Market.

9. [Luotian County, Hebei Province] Ms. Xiong Chun and Ms. Yu Xuehua Arrested

Ms. Xiong Chun and Ms. Yu Xuehua from Luotian County were arrested by plain-clothes police on their way to work on the morning of May 7, 2013. They were then taken to the Hubei Brainwashing Center in Wuhan City. Ms. Xiong Chun was released on the same afternoon because she had high blood pressure. Ms. Yu Xuehua is still being held at the Hubei Brainwashing Center.

10. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Meng Jinzhi and Ms. Liu Yanhong Arrested

Ms. Meng Jinzhi and Ms. Liu Yanhong both from Longgang District in Huludao City were arrested by officers from the Dongjie Police Station on May 7, 2013 while they were clarifying the truth. They have been taken to the local detention center.

11. [Huanggang City, Hubei Province] Ms. Hu Qiumei Arrested

Officers from the Huanggang City Domestic Security Division and Xiaochi Town Police Station burst into Ms. Hu Qiumei's shop on the morning of May 6, 2013 and arrested her. She was taken to the Hubei Province Brainwashing Center. Her home was ransacked and her Dafa books and truth clarification materials were confiscated.

12. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Thirteen Practitioners Arrested

Thirteen practitioners were arrested on the morning of April 25, 2013. The practitioners include Mr. Gao Gang, Mr. Yu Lixin, Ms. Wang Xiuyan, Ms. Wang Qing, Ms. Li Yi, Ms. Wang Xiulian, Ms. Sun Hongxia, Mr. Gao Chong, Mr. Li Chunzheng, Ms. Jing Yan, Ms. Li Hongyan, Ms. Zhang Meizhen and Ms. Ma Xiang.

13. [Zaoyang City, Hubei Province] Mr. Fang Kun Taken to a Brainwashing Center

Mr. Fang Kun from Zaoyang City was arrested at his home on May 3, 2013. He was taken to the Wuhan City “Law and Education” Center, actually a brainwashing center.

14. [Tianjin] Ms. Zhao Fengzhi Sentenced

Ms. Zhao Fengzhi from Hexi District in Tianjin was arrested on October 26, 2012. She was detained at the Hexi Detention Center in Tianjin, and sentenced to three years in prison by the judge from Hexi Court on April 22, 2013.

15. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yu Shaoping Arrested

Ms. Yu Shaoping, a teacher at the Dayibeijie Primary School in Chengdu City, was arrested by officer Zhang Shuang from the Jinyuan Town Police Station on April 26, 2013. She was transferred to the local detention center on May 7, 2013.
