Couple Illegally Sentenced, Nine-year-old Daughter Sent to Orphanage

(Minghui.org) On July ¹, 2012, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Liping from Liaoyuan, Jilin Province, was illegally arrested and tortured. She was sentenced to five years on November 27. Two years ago, her husband was arrested and imprisoned in Shilingzi Prison, where he remains. Their nine-year-old daughter was sent to an orphanage.

Ms. Sun tortured, her daughter sent to an orphanage

On July 1, 2012, officers from Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province, arrested 40 practitioners in one day, including Ms. Sun.

Around noon that day, Jin, the head of Jilin Liaoyuan Taian Police Branch, and half a dozen officers broke into Ms. Sun’s house. They seized her and her nine-year-old daughter, took them to Taian Police Branch, and detained them separately.

The police used handcuffs and a belt to tie Ms. Sun to a Tight Bench. They tortured her to get her to reveal her contacts. Ms. Sun refused to speak, so they shocked her with a fully charged electric baton. When t baton suddenly lost power, one of them picked up an unopened bottle of water to hit Ms. Sun in the face and punch her in the chest. She still refused to speak.

They then found an iron rod from a rice cooker and hit her in the head with it. When she still did not give in, Jin ordered someone to fetch a bucket of water and yelled, “Pour water into her! How long will she last then?” The police grabbed her by her hair, pulled her head back, and poured water into her mouth and nose so that she couldn’t breathe. One policeman said, “Don’t use clean water. Fetch the dirty water from the toilet.”

The police did not get any information from Ms. Sun. They were furious and threatened her using her daughter. They said they would beat her daughter and send her to an orphanage. Later, they really did send the girl to an orphanage.

Ms. Sun illegally sentenced

At last, the police took a record of the things that they had ransacked from Ms. Sun’s house and videotaped her, saying, “It actually doesn’t matter whether you say anything or not, we can still send you to jail.” They took her to a detention center. At that time, 20 other Falun Gong practitioners were imprisoned there.

On November 27, 2012, Jilin Liaoyuan Xi’an District Court secretly tried 13 of them, including Ms. Sun, in Liaoyuan Detention Center. The trial should have been held in Xi’an District Court, but the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) dared not hold a public trial.

They secretly transferred the practitioners to Liaoyuan Detention Center. The practitioners were not allowed to defend themselves or to hire lawyers. The court appointed 12 lawyers to defend them. On November 30, Xi’an District Court handed down the following sentences: Ms. Sun Liping, 5 years in prison; Liu Jingjun, 11 years; Cao Weibo, 9 years; Wang Guoxiang, 5 years; and Zhang Ping, 5 years. It's been confirmed that Ms. Sun Liping was in prison until at least February 26, 2013. More details will be provided as they become available.

Her husband sentenced two years ago

On November 7, 2010, Ms. Sun Liping’s husband, Mr. Li Tieying, and practitioner Ms. Guo Enlan were tried in Liaoyuan Xi’an District Court. Mr. Li was interrogated five times. The police told him to put his fingerprint on the interrogation record, but he refused, saying, “That is not my account. I will not give my fingerprint.” Mr. Li was sentenced and is now in Shilingzi Prison.
