(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Baishun and her mother, Ms. Zhou Huiting from Qian'an in Hebei Province, were arrested separately at their own homes on June 27, 2013 by officers from Qian'an Domestic Security Division because of their belief in Falun Gong. They were both detained at the brainwashing center on the fourth floor of the Agricultural Comprehensive Law Enforcement unit in Qian'an.
The brainwashing center has locked iron doors at the entrance of the third and fourth floor and the windows also have iron bars on them. Those detained there are monitored 24 hours a day, and are not allowed to speak or meet with any of their family members. A relative of Ms. Zhou attempted to visit her, but when someone with the surname Wang met them at the door, Wang shouted, “No one is allowed to meet with her!” and then closed the door. Ms. Zhou is still detained at the brainwashing center, but Ms. Liu's whereabouts are now unknown.
Ms. Liu was transferred to Qian'an Detention Center two days after her arrival, but was returned to the brainwashing center two weeks later. Authorities at the brainwashing center claim that Ms. Liu had returned home. But Ms. Liu did not go home, nor did she pick up her daughter as was reported. No one has any information of her whereabouts.
Ms. Liu, approximately 38 years old, has two children. Her eldest daughter is eight years old and her youngest child is about four years old. Ms. Liu's husband was arrested for his belief in Falun Gong and is still in detention. Ms. Liu faced many difficulties in caring for two children by herself and sent her eldest daughter to live at her mother's home.
Since Ms. Zhou was arrested, no one is able to look after Ms. Liu's daughter and the daughter's cousin, who is about six years old. When Ms. Liu's daughter, who is now in the second grade, saw her grandma get arrested, she became very afraid.
A relative once went to visit the two children. The relative asked the kids to open the door so he could bring them some food. The relative knocked at the door for half an hour, but the children only looked through the peep hole on the door. Although the children knew this relative, they were too frightened to open the door or take the food. Finally, the relative said that he was thirsty, so the children opened the door slightly to hand him a bottle of water, then immediately closed the door. They would not open it no matter what he said. Seeing these children so frightened because of the persecution of Falun Gong, the relative felt extremely sad.
