(Minghui.org) On August 16, 2013, Nankouqian Town in Qingyuan County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province, was flooded.
One of the villages was engulfed so completely that all the houses on the main street had flooded up to the second floor. The inhabitants had to stay on the mountain, and those who didn’t have enough time to leave were trapped on their roofs. They had nothing to eat or drink for more than 20 hours. Then it got worse, as violent storms whipped up.
Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested after Helping Victims
On August 23, 2013, Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Huang Yuping, Ms. Liu Jinyan and her husband, Ms. Wen Guiqing, and Ms. Zhang Yanfen from Qingyuan County went to help the victims in the hard-hit area of Nankouqian Town and told them about Falun Dafa. At around 1 p.m., they were arrested.
When she heard what had happened, Ms. Qi Yunzhen and two other practitioners went to Ms. Huang Yuping’s home, where the Qingyuan County police illegally arrested them. One witness saw one of the practitioners being hung up, which is a form of cruel torture.
When the local citizens needed urgent help, the police did not save them but went to arrest Falun Gong practitioners who were helping the victims.

How the Government Behaves During a Disaster
There were large numbers of dead and injured in the area, but the news on TV was not about disaster relief or a site report but about the 12 th National Games. The Liaoning Province departmental level officials did not go to Qingyuan County until August 18. When they arrived at Hongtoushan Town, the town government notified every work unit to select several representatives to wear their work clothes and bring spades to clear up the mud in Hongtoushan Town, along with the government functionaries. The villages all knew that they were just acting.
A local in Nankouqian Village said that when the provincial and city level government officials were performing for the cameras in Nankouqian, many local villagers cried angrily, “How can you still film at such a time? People are missing--why don’t you save them?” By August 19, there were nine villages still in dire need of assistance.
According to the people who participated, 178 bodies were cremated at the Qingyuan County cremation site since August 19. The number of deaths was concealed by all levels of government officials in order to create a good image for the National Games.
Some Lucky Villagers Rescued from the Flood
All the villagers who signed their names to help secure the release of arrested Falun Gong practitioners survived the disaster.
Nankouqian Village was the most seriously affected. A lot of houses were damaged by the flood, and some of the families died. However, many villagers there signed their names to help get arrested Falun Gong practitioners released. None of those people died. Some of them even shouted, “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” They were grateful to Dafa for saving them.

The homes of those who signed to help Falun Gong practitioners were less affected. They could help other distressed villagers with shelter.
