Additional Persecution News from China – August 21, 2013 (9 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 7 provinces. According to this report, 2 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 9 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Haiyan, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Kuang Zaifang and Her Husband Arrested Elderly practitioner Ms. Kuang Zaifang and her husband were arrested on the morning of August 20, 2013, when they spoke to people about Falun Gong at a market.

2. [Shaoyuan, Guangdong Province] Ms. Lu Zhulian Detained and Beaten Ms. Lu Zhulian was arrested on July 28, 2013, when she spoke to people about Falun Gong at Xilian Market. Officers from the Xilian Police Station made the arrest and took her to the Huanggang Detention Center. They also beat her to elicit a “confession.”

3. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Ms. Feng Yanxin Arrested Ms. Feng Yanxin, in her 60s, was arrested on the morning of August 19, 2013, when she distributed informational materials about Falun Gong.

4. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Hu Yuanqin Detained Mr. Hu Yuanqin from Jiangning District was arrested at home on August 18, 2013, after plainclothes police discovered that he had distributed informational materials about Falun Gong on August 16. Mr. Hu is currently held in the Jiangning District Detention Center.

5. [Yishui County, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhao Kemei Arrested Ms. Zhao Kemei from Bojiaping Village, Yishui Town, was arrested on August 3, 2013, when she distributed informational materials about Falun Gong in Guozhuang Town, Ju County.

6. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Mr. He Tao Arrested On the morning of August 20, 2013, Mr. He Tao accompanied Ms. Wang Yanqiu’s son to the Jinzhou City 610 Office. Ms. Wang had been illegally detained and the two men went to demand her release. The head of the 610 Office, Li Meishan, arrested Mr. He. Mr. He is being held at the local police department.

7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Jingzhou Arrested Mr. Liu Jinzhou from Daowai District had just been released from a forced labor camp, but was arrested again on August 20, 2013. His current whereabouts are unknown.

8. [Wu'an City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Aiying Sentenced to Prison Wu'an City Court recently sentenced Ms. Wang Aiying to three years in prison. Ms. Wang is currently incarcerated in the Handan City No.1 Detention Center.

9. [Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Xu Yiqing Detained and Tortured Mr. Xu Yiqing from Xinpu District was arrested on the evening of August 7, 2013. Officers from the Xinpu District 610 Office and the Xinnan Police Station made the arrest. The police tortured Mr. Xu the entire day before taking him to the Lianyungang City Detention Center on the evening of August 8.
