(Minghui.org) Fellow practitioner Mei (alias) was a coordinator in our area. One day two police cars came to her door, and the officers attempted to arrest her. At the critical moment, she asked Master to cover her with a shield so that nobody could see her, and she walked out right in front of their eyes.
She then became homeless. At the time, she only had 10,000 yuan with her. She went to an unfamiliar city, rented an attic and bought a computer and printer. She then began to produce Falun Dafa informational materials.
Initially she printed and distributed the materials all by herself. She later met up with a local fellow practitioner, and from that point on she began providing large amounts of Falun Dafa informational materials for their area. For safety reasons, she only contacted the fellow practitioner once a week, and locked herself in her room the rest of the time.
I asked her “How was your life at that time?”
She told me: “In order to save money, I bought a rice cooker, and one pot of rice lasted me several days. I hardly ever bought groceries.”
I wondered aloud: “What about pickled vegetables?”
She replied: “Pickled vegetables? Yes, I would occasionally buy some. They would also last me a number of days. Tofu would be considered a good meal. A water-bottle size of cooking oil lasted me more than a year.”
Her attic was less than ten square meters. It was steamy in the summer and frigid in the winter. The landlord was an elderly lady, and she often came to complain that Mei used too much water and electricity. Mei never argued with her but was always calm and understanding. Later the landlord changed her attitude and came to understand that Mei was a good person.
One day when Mei was out, she saw a vender selling watermelon. It was only 40 cents a pound, which was a very good price. She had not eaten watermelon for years. When she touched the money in her pocket, she still walked away thinking: “The money came from fellow practitioners for saving sentient beings. How can I spend it on myself?”
One day, the fellow practitioner who came to pick up materials brought her two pieces of fried dough sticks. She ate one, two days later, she noticed the other one had mold growing on it. She was mentally struggling about whether to eat it or not. She decided to eat it as in that kind of environment, her only goal was to survive.
“It tasted like dry pieces of wood and was hard to swallow.”
“Why didn't you ask local practitioners for help?”
“I could not do that, it was not easy for anyone during that period of time. The evil was rampant, and many fellow practitioners were arrested. It was easy to manage my simple life, so I would not bother them at all.”
Mei had been displaced for five years. She never had a good meal even during the Chinese New Year period. One year when the landlord had a family reunion on New Year's Eve, she went out in order not to arouse any suspicion. She walked in the rain, and the town was filled with the sound of firecrackers and the aroma of delicious food. There was a small food vender on the street corner, so she went and bought some fried Tofu -- that was her New Year banquet.
At that time, her daughter called on a public phone: “Mother, today is New Year's Eve. Did you eat yet?”
“Yes, Yes.” Mei's tears ran down her face.
“Mother, when will you come back? I miss you terribly!”
“I will be back, and please listen to your father....” This was the hardest question to answer, and she tried her best to compose herself.
After the phone call, her fried tofu turned icy cold.
Mei said: “The most difficult thing to handle was not food, but the loneliness. I only saw a fellow practitioner every five days. For safety reasons, I only had 'single-line' connections with others. Most of my time I locked myself in my room. The loneliness was unbearable. I began memorizing the Fa. Over the years, I memorized Zhuan Falun and many other scriptures. Besides making Falun Dafa informational materials, I would memorize the Fa.”
This article describing Mei's life story, is to validate the mighty virtue of a Falun Dafa practitioner under our Master's direction, who can forge such outstanding disciples who are able to endure the harshest hardship for the sake of others.
