Mr. Kang Youyuan Arrested for the Fifth Time

(Minghui.org) Mr. Kang Youyuan of Qiaokou District, Wuhan City was arrested for the fifth time on December 3, 2013, and then sent to the Dongxihu District Detention Center in Wuhan on December 13.

Mr. Kang was arrested by officers from the Wujiashan Police Station in the Dongxihu District when he was explaining to people the truth about Falun Gong on December 3, 2013. He was held at the Dongxihu Detention Center for eight days. This was his fifth arrest and second time in a detention center.

His family went to the detention center to take him home on the morning of December 11, 2013. Police forced his family to pay 280 yuan for his living expenses at the detention center. They then agreed to release Mr. Kang the next day and told his family not to come again. When his family came back the next day, the officer on duty said to them, “Why are you here? Wait outside.” After a while the officer on duty said he had no authority to release Mr. Kang, and that he needed a release notice from the Wujiashan Police Station.

Mr. Kang's family immediately rushed to the Wujiashan Police Station and asked the police in charge to release him. They said, “Kang Youyuan was in poor health before he practiced Falun Gong. He suffered from stomach cancer and other diseases and had three surgeries. The doctors said his diseases were incurable. However he recovered after practicing Falun Gong. Our relatives and friends all know that he did not do bad things. Release him right away or he will fall ill again. He and his wife were divorced years ago, he is 65 years old, and there is no one to care for him.”

The officer said, “He is required to have a physical exam and will be sentenced if no disease is found.”

Mr. Kang was sent to the Dongxihu Detention Center on December 13, and his official arrest notice was then issued.

Persecuted During the Past 14 Years

During the 14 years of the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong, Mr. Kang never gave up his practice, and because of that he was arrested four times. He was sent to a brainwashing center twice, and twice sent to a forced labor camp for one year each. While at the labor camp the second time, he was released after four days of medical treatment, and he suffered from torture.

Benefited from Practicing Falun Gong

Mr. Kang, 65, suffered from stomach cancer and a variety of incurable diseases. He underwent three surgeries with no success. He began to practice Falun Gong on May 2, 1997. After a period of practice and following the principles of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance,” his diseases disappeared and he became a healthy person.

This is another example of how Cao Bin, chief of the Dongxihu 610 Office continuously persecutes Falun Gong practitioners, and has been doing so for many years. He arrested Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Wang Changzheng, Mr. Huang Zhiyong, Mr. Guo Wuhai, Ms. Hu Wangxiang, Mr. Ouyang Haiwen, Mr. Liu Shehong, Mr. Zhang Jingzhou, Mr. Peng Liang, Ms. Ouyang Cuirong, Mr. Fang Xionghua, and others. He has made sure they were given prison sentences and sent to jail.
