(Minghui.org) Ms. Xiao Silan is retired from Chenzhou Motor Transport Group Co., Ltd in Hunan Province. Since the persecution of Falun Gong started in July 1999, the local authorities and her company have extorted 58,000 yuan from her based on the excuse that she practices Falun Gong.
In early 2000, Ms. Xiao was detained at Jiahe Detention Center for 32 days for going to Beijing to speak out on behalf of Falun Gong. She was later released on bail. The detention center authorities forced her to pay 320 yuan for her food. Her company forced her to pay 7,500 yuan and 2,000 yuan separately. The local police extorted 5,000 yuan from her, while the local 610 Office made her pay 3,000.
Later that year Ms. Xiao was illegally arrested and detained again twice, and her company extorted 4,000 yuan from her. The detention center forced her to pay 300 yuan for the meals.
Ms. Xiao went to Beijing again and was detained at Chenzhou Liaison Office in Beijing. Li Zhuwen, her company's Party head, went to Beijing to bring her back and extorted 600 yuan from her.
From January 10 to May 25, 2001, Ms. Xiao was detained in the Chenzhou City Brainwashing Center by local police chief You Zhiping and her company management.
In the beginning, company managers said that the company would pay room and board for her and for the two coworkers assigned to watch her in the brainwashing center. Her managers later deducted a total of 12,150 yuan from her pension to cover the cost of all the room and board. The company said it was done because Ms. Xiao refused to give up practicing Falun Gong.
On the afternoon of November 30, 2001, You Zhiping and Li Zhuwen took Ms. Xiao to the brainwashing center again and detained her there until December 30, 2001. Li deducted 2,700 yuan from her pension.
In 2004, Ms. Xiao visited her son and put up a banner that said “Falun Dafa Is Good” on the kitchen wall. Someone who it reported it to the authorities. Guiyang County Police arrested her and held her in Guiyang Detention Center for 43 days. She was forced to pay 430 yuan for the meals.
Police officer Li Yunzhong told her that they would release her if she paid 3,000 yuan. Soon after her release, the authorities arrested her again and sent her to Baimalong Women's Forced Labor Camp, where she was detained for 21 months.
When the Jiahe County 610 Office ordered her company to pay 10,000 yuan, the management deducted it from her pension again.
On July 6, 2009, Ms. Xiao went to Taipingyu in Lanshan County to talk to people about Falun Gong. She was arrested by Lanshan County police, who sprained her right hand using excessive force during her arrest. She was taken to the Lanshan Detention Center.
On December 15, 2009, Ms. Xiao was brought to trial in Lanshan County Court. Many of her relatives and friends were present. Because the CCP authorities made up all the charges and were afraid of being publicly exposed, the court officials adjourned the proceedings after seeing so many people present.
The trial resumed ten days later, but no one was notified.
On March 18, 2010, Lanshan County Court sentenced her to three years and took her to Hunan Province Women's Prison. She was released in 2012.
During her imprisonment, she suffered all kinds of ill treatment. Zhang Chifei, director of Jiahe County 610 Office; Li Jianmin, deputy director; and others extorted 10,000 yuan from her company, which again was deducted from her pension.
