(Minghui.org) Ms. Sun Fenghua, 50, from Daqing City in Heilongjiang Province, was illegally sentenced to 14 years in prison by officials from the Hailun District Court on October 14, 2003. With no official paperwork being filed or criminal charges brought against her, Ms. Sun was taken to the Heilongjiang Women’s Prison, where she has been brutally persecuted for over ten years. Her physical condition is of grave concern to both her family and friends.
Criminal inmates in Heilongjiang Women's Prison are routinely ordered to monitor, beat, and curse practitioners. Lu Jinghua, head of the Strict Management Team, and Wang Xiaoli, deputy head, along with guard Tao Dandan, ordered criminal inmates Cao Zhenhua (a murderer), Wang Fengying (sentenced for assault), and Wang Haixia (a thief) to beat and torture practitioners.
The guards began depriving practitioners of sleep on July 6, 2012, and forced them to sit on a small brick for extended periods of time. When a practitioner fell off the brick, inmates immediately sat her back up, tied her tightly to the metal bed frame, and then punched and kicked her. Practitioners were also hung up by their handcuffs and not allowed to use the toilet. As a result, many practitioners began to suffer from high blood pressure and heart abnormalities.
One day, Ms. Sun passed out from the pain after having her hands tightly cuffed behind her back. When she came to, she was forced to stand still in a tiny space until 10:00 p.m. She could not bend her knees, and had difficulty walking when she was later escorted back to her cell. The handcuffs had also cut deeply into her wrists.
Ms. Gao Guopo was tortured by guards Liu Wanyu and Li Yan on January 18, 2010, after they found over 30 copies of hand-written Falun Gong materials under her mattress. She had begun practicing Falun Gong after learning about it in the prison. Guard Yu Hongpo blamed Ms. Sun for teaching Ms. Gao Falun Gong, and ordered inmate Wang Xiaodong to punch and kick her.
When some practitioners got together to do the Falun Gong exercises on December 20, 2005, practitioners Huang Xiuying, Li Yuanyuan, and Ma Bingjuan were put in solitary confinement. Ms. Sun had her hands cuffed behind her back, and was tied to the metal rail of her bunk bed for eight days, making it impossible for her to sit or stand up straight. She lost consciousness twice from the excruciating pain.
Ms. Sun was once forced to squat facing a wall in Wang Xiaoli's office. She was also handcuffed for two days, one of them being with her hands cuffed behind her back. She lost consciousness from the pain.
Ms. Sun kept losing sight temporarily in her left eye as a result of torture.
Practitioners Li Xiaotong and Han Shaoqin had their hands cuffed behind their backs for two days.
Practitioners are often shocked with electric batons, made to stand outside in the cold winter without any warm clothing, and forced to squat for long periods of time. They are also not allowed to have any visitors until they admit that they committed a crime by practicing Falun Gong.
Torture re-enactment: Shocked with electric batons
Guards in the women's “training” team initially had a hard time forcing practitioners to give up their beliefs, so the prison authorities created the First Team in 2003, which was led by inmates Yu Guohua, Wang Fengying, and Shi Jingzhen.
Wu Xuesong, head of the First Team, incited inmates Lu Shanshan and Wang Xiaodong to severely beat Ms. Sun.
Ms. Sun was detained by police from Harbin City on May 15, 2003, for more than three weeks. She lost consciousness after being shocked with electric batons, and later couldn't walk. She was then taken to the Hailun Detention Center, where she held a hunger strike for more than four months.
Ms. Sun went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on May 1, 2000, to let people know how she had benefited from the practice. She was arrested by police officers Sun Keming, Wei Tao, and Chen Xuan, and was taken to the Honggang District Detention Center.
Mr. Jiang Yan, Ms. Sun's husband, was threatened by his boss and the police to divorce his wife or face losing his job. After he refused to get divorced, he was fired from his work unit and closely monitored for a year. At that time, his elderly father and young child needed his attention and care. Mr. Jiang was again pressured into divorcing his wife.
Following Ms. Sun's release, she was monitored by local administrative officials. She was forced to leave home in 2001 to avoid further persecution.
Ms. Sun used to suffer from tuberculosis, meningitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and ovarian cysts before she began practicing Falun Gong in 1996, and had been hospitalized several times. The medical treatments she received had not improved her health, and at one point she lost all hope of ever getting well. Then in 1996, a friend suggested that she give Falun Gong a try. Within less than a month, all of her illnesses disappeared, without taking any medication.
