(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Hao Yueshan was tried in the Kaifa District Court of Dalian on January 22, 2014, after being {illegally detained}} for 18 months in the Dalian Detention Center.
The trial began at about 10:00 a.m. in Room 1. Only four of Ms. Hao's family members and friends were allowed to be present, along with other court staff. About seven armed bailiffs were outside the courtroom.
Ms. Hao said to the judge, “My parents became healthy again after practicing Falun Dafa, so I started practicing too. I follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in my daily life and at work. I should be at home taking care of my family, instead of being imprisoned for my belief. It's not a crime to believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”
Her lawyer said, “Ms. Hao has not broken any laws, nor has she interfered with law enforcement as charged. A court can't convict a person based on Jiang Zemin's opinion (the former president of China who launched the persecution of Falun Dafa), what's written in newspapers, or a government policy.”
Arrested On Trumped-Up Charges
The police forced their way into Ms. Hao’s home on July 6, 2012, and arrested her on charges of “subversion of state power.” They were targeting Falun Dafa practitioners who had participated in installing NTD television receivers. Nearly100 practitioners were arrested that day. Party officials eventually changed the charge to “undermining law enforcement” on August 8, 2012. Ms. Hao has been illegally detained in the Dalian Detention Center.
Ms. Hao is high school physics teacher at the No. 7 High School of Kaifa District, and is well liked. After she began practicing Falun Dafa in 1995, she applied the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in the classroom. She treated every student like her own child. Her students have often won top prizes at national physics competitions.
