“For a Fa-rectification period Dafa disciple, personal liberation is not the goal of cultivation: when you came, saving sentient beings was your great aspiration, and that is the responsibility and mission history has bestowed upon you in Fa-rectification. Thus great numbers of beings are to be saved by you. Dafa disciples, don't forsake the magnificent responsibility that has been bestowed upon you in Fa-rectification, and even less should you disappoint those beings, as you are now their only hope for entering the future. For this reason, all Dafa disciples, students both new and veteran, should get to work and begin comprehensively clarifying the truth. This is especially so for the Dafa disciples in Mainland China: each must come out and clarify the truth, bringing it to every field and valley, mountain and hill, not omitting a single area where there are people.” (“Let Go of Human Attachments and Save the World's People”)
In response to Master's request in 2004 to hurry up and save people, my wife and I along with fellow practitioners, began to comprehensively clarify the truth and encourage people to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations.
I took an early retirement after I lost my job due to the persecution. My wife and I walked around and handed out truth-clarification materials. We started from the city center and then expanded outward. We walked six to seven miles, which was the maximum we could reach by foot. We covered that area making several rounds, and then thought that we should go further. We took a bus to the suburb and we then walked back. While we were giving out informational materials, we told people the facts and encouraged them to denounce the CCP. In this way, we reached places nearly 20 miles away and covered both the city and the suburbs.
An ex-colleague of mine asked me to be a project manager for his company in 2007. I felt the job might help my cultivation and also assist in my efforts in saving people. My wife and I would go out on weekends to tell people the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution.
It was during this period that I learned about a special area in our region. There are nine mountains in our county, and the remaining half of the area is covered by water. A very small fraction of land is farmland. There were people scattered here and there in the canyons and along the side roads.
The villagers only had access to CCTV (China Central Television) for news and were heavily brainwashed by the slanderous propaganda about Falun Gong. Practitioners from other areas had gone there in the past and ended up being persecuted. I wanted to go and save the villagers in this region, but I needed transportation.
I was 58 in 2007, and I decided to attend a driving school to learn how to drive a car. Finally, I bought a car and drove it home in 2010. This was when my wife and I began our journey of saving people in the mountain area.
I worked from Monday to Saturday, and on Sunday, my wife and I went to the markets in the country. We went to the same markets again and again. All of the vendors knew us and we saw the same people at the markets each week, and we talked to all of them. Many of the vendors denounced the CCP, while some of them refused to quit the Party, even after we repeatedly explained the true situation about the persecution of Falun Gong. We needed to find another way.
The company I was working for changed its business hours to Monday through Friday at the end of 2011. I had both Saturday and Sunday to head to the mountains. Master will pave the way if a disciple's thoughts comply with the Fa.
We left home early on Saturday morning and stopped at every market. We also talked to every person we encountered along the road. We would either ask for directions or just start talking to them. As long as we could start a conversation, we could save them.
There were all kinds of small sized fruits in the mountains. We would ask, “What is this? Is it okay to eat?” Throughout the day we would ask the same question to all of the people that we met and many people withdrew from the CCP after talking with us.
We then started picking mushrooms along the hillsides. Again we would ask, “What kind of mushroom is it? Is it okay to eat? Is it poisonous?” Consequently many people were saved each day.
A village woman was heading home with a bucket of chestnuts in her arm. I stopped the car and my wife started a conversation with her and talked to her about the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The woman said, “You are Falun Gong. I won't listen to you.” She walked away. My wife followed her and kept talking to her. I sent righteous thoughts. After a while, my wife began to recite a verse from Master.
“In the vast sea of people, it's hard to meet A smile encountered by chance is from a karmic bond Quiet down your mind and hear the truth You've waited millennia for these words The saving Dafa is spreading in the world Each word of the heavenly secrets is true” (“Talking of Karmic Bonds” from Hong Yin III)
The woman stopped and my wife continued, “We have met today because of a karmic bond. Our master asked us to save people. We do not ask you for a penny in return. We are just telling you about the Fa that will lift you from suffering. You must be responsible for your life.”
The woman put down her bucket and listened. My wife said, “Do not believe the propaganda that you see on TV. Falun Gong practitioners follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Are these principles wrong? The TV news stories are full of lies, including the alleged self-immolation incident in Tiananmen square
I was sending righteous thoughts and asked Master with all my heart to save her. The woman's attitude changed, “Is this true?” My wife replied, “Of course, it's true. We practice Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. If we live by these principles, why would we deceive you? Other people may deceive you for your money or your things. There are so many catastrophes and accidents these days. To ensure that you have a bright future, why not withdraw from the CCP. Why not do it now?”
The woman denounced the CCP using her real name, and thanked us again and again. She would not let us leave without taking a bucket of chestnuts as a gift. We tried unsuccessfully to give her 20 yuan for the nuts. She left the money on the ground and ran away. She shouted, “Come to my house on your next visit. I live in the village down the road.”
We had many similar experiences. People were full of appreciation after they learned the truth and denounced the CCP. They gave us cherries, apples, hawthorns, carrots, sweet potatoes, and mushrooms. The villagers were very sincere and would not let us turn down their gifts. Some took a little money as a token after we persisted. Some of them would not take anything, telling us the goods were homegrown. People have a side that understands the truth and is full of gratitude towards Master, Dafa, and practitiioners.
We met a man in his 30s. He had a difficult time walking and he looked like he had suffered a stroke. My wife stepped forward and asked, “How long have you been sick?” He replied, “Several years.” My wife said, “It's not easy to find a cure.” He said, “I cannot be cured. I have taken all kinds of medicine and none of them have worked. I owe 60,000 yuan in medical bills. My dad also had a stroke and is bed ridden He used to be very adept. After he got sick, his wife left him, and he lost his job.”
My wife said, “Don't worry. I will tell you about a cure that will cost you nothing.” He raised his head and listened carefully. “It's very simple. Remember these words 'Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.' We follow these principles to live by and we do not lie. The CCP makes up slanderous propaganda to stay in power and does not have any interest in the well being of the people. Believe me, and remember that 'Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.'”
He said, “Is it true? Will it work?” My wife said, “Yes it works if you truly believe it.” He said, “I believe. I believe.” He started to cry and said, “Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” Then he repeated it loudly. He withdrew from the CCP, and said, “I will go home and tell my dad, and have him utter these blessed words.”
My wife talked to the people more than I did. She would follow a person and keep talking to them until the person denounced the CCP. There were times she walked a mile with the person. I would send righteous thoughts.
We ran into danger from time to time, but with Master's protection we remained safe. Once I drove a whole day and then did not sleep well in the car that night. That made me drowsy while driving the next day. We were heading for a bridge, but the car was aimed at the slope beside the bridge. My wife cried out. I woke up, but had no sense of what was happening. Subconsciously, I turned the wheel and hit the brake. The car stopped beside the bridge. The car would have gone under the bridge without Master's protection. We thanked Master.
We toured all 22 towns and townships in the county for over a year. We reached all of the residences except those in the very remote ravines. We have helped more than 5,000 people withdraw from the CCP since the beginning of 2012. About 100 people would withdraw from the CCP on our best days.
Others might think we were driving around sightseeing and living an easy life. We felt happy that we were able to save people in this way. At times we were troubled by our attachments or we became uncertain because of interference from other dimensions. Sometimes we were joyful after we saved someone or we experienced regret for the person that missed the chance to be saved. Most of the time we were full of gratitude toward master.
This is the story about our path as Dafa disciples during the Fa-rectification period.
