(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Du Zhilong, Mr. Zhu Fanli, and Ms. Chen Qi were transferred to the Fengxian Brainwashing Center on April 25, 2014, after finishing their 30-day detentions.
The three practitioners were illegally arrested on March 26, 2014 in Shanghai while reading Falun Gong lecture books at Mr. Du's home, along with six other practitioners. The police ransacked all nine practitioners' homes afterwards.
The action was carried out by more than 30 officers from the Pudong District. Among them were local 610 Office officers and police from a riot squad.
The nine practitioners were taken to the New Pudong District Detention Center. Mr. Zhu Hua, Mr. Du Zhilong, Mr. Zhu Fanli, and Ms. Chen Qi were given 30 day detentions, while Ms. Yao Guizhen, Ms. Zhu Qianqin, and Ms. Zhou Pandi were given 10 days. Mr. Sun Qi was sentenced to 10 days, which was not enforced. Ms. Han Ling-en, who is Mr. Du Zhilong's wife, was released on bail.
Police and local officers also ransacked Mr. Zhu's mother's home after he was arrested. They confiscated some personal belongings of Mr. Zhu when his elderly mother was home alone. They refused to show any identification. The mother was terrified.
Mr. Zhu Twice Sentenced to Imprisonment Between 2002 to 2010
Mr. Zhu Hua, 51, is a manager from a Shanghai state enterprise. He lives in the Ouyang Street, Hongkou District of Shanghai, but he went to the Pudong District weekly to look after his mother, who had heart trouble.
Mr. Zhu was sentenced to three years in prison in June 2002, when he was a manager of a housing company. He was held in the Tilanqiao Prison where he was tortured. He was placed in solitary confinement facing a wall and forced to stay in a painful position, handcuffed with his arms behind his back for long periods of time, and not allowed to go to the bathroom.
Mr. Zhu was arrested again on May 23, 2006, for speaking to people about the facts of Falun Gong. He refused to sign a confession when he was interrogated in the police station. Therefore, he was given a four-year sentence. He was held in the Tilanqiao Prison on February 8, 2007. He went on hunger strikes to protest the persecution. In retaliation the prison guards beat and force-fed him. As a result he suffered a gastric hemorrhage. He was released on May 24, 2010.
