(Minghui.org) The Baoshan District Court sentenced Mr. Chen Yuxin to three and half years of imprisonment on July 10, 2014. Mr. Chen will appeal the verdict.
Mr. Chen refuted the prosecutors charges in court. However, the judge interrupted him many times and he was determined to not let him defend himself.
Officers from the Baoshan District 610 Office and personnel from the Xinqiao Neighborhood Committee threatened Mr. Chen's family. They claimed that filing an appeal would extend his prison term.
Arrested and Detained
Mr. Chen Yuxin was illegally arrested by police for distributing Falun Gong flyers on the night of January 4, 2014. Officers from the Baoshan District Domestic Security Division and the Xincun Police Station in Sitang took him to his home that night and they ransacked it. The police confiscated Falun Dafa books, cash bills on which words about Falun Dafa were written, and other items. The Baoshan District Procuratorate approved the arrest one month later.
Family Worried
His family has not been allowed to visit him, nor have they had any communication. They are very worried about him.
Mr. Chen's wife was deceived by a person and paid tens of thousands of yuan earned through hard work over the years to get him released from prison.
Mr. Chen's Background
Mr. Chen, about 50 years old, lives in Sitang No. 1 Village, Baoshan District, Shanghai. He and his wife made a living by installing and fixing kitchen and bathroom equipment.
Mr. Chen started to practice Falun Gong in 1996, and lives by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. He never overcharged his customers, was kind and highly praised by people.
