(Minghui.org) The Shenzhen Intermediate Court upheld the sentence of a local female Falun Gong practitioner earlier this month. Currently detained at the Meilin Detention Center, Ms. Zhao Xiurong (赵秀荣) faces the immediate threat of being transferred to prison.
Ms. Zhao was handed a three-year sentence on May 15, 2014, by the Futian District Court in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. Her illegal arrest occurred on September 12, 2013, when she was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong at a condominium complex in the Meilin area of Futian District. Her home was ransacked after the arrest.
Ms. Zhao's case was first rejected by the Futian Procuratorate at the end of December 2013, due to insufficient evidence. However, it was re-submitted in January 2014 by the local police. The Procuratorate accepted the case and proceeded with a trial.
