(Minghui.org) Qingdao Police Department dispatched officers to surround the home of Mr. Yang Naijian on May 2, 2013. They arrested him; his mother, Ms. Liu Xiuzheng; and other Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Lu Xueqin, Mr. Li Hao, and Mr. Yuan Shaohua.
They were accused of “gathering illegally.”
A month later, state-controlled Chinese media announced that Qingdao police had “cracked” a criminal case in which Falun Dafa practitioners had taken photographs of re-enacted torture methods used on practitioners in prison. The pictures were intended to document the abuses those practitioners were subjected to.
Rapid Decline
Mr. Yang was sentenced to six years in prison in the Chengyang District Court in 2014. He was sent to Jinan Prison in Shandong Province on November 10, 2014, and his family visited him for the first time two weeks later.
They noticed that Mr. Yang had lost a great deal of weight and that he could barely walk or communicate. Although Mr. Yang was young and previously healthy, the fact that he now seemed in such poor shape concerned his family.
His family visited him in prison for the second time on January 6, 2015. They noticed that he was very pale and so weak that two people had to help him walk. His family asked him what had happened, and Mr. Yang said that, in trying to force him to relinquish Falun Dafa, the guards refused to let him sleep. He added that he had started a hunger strike to protest his treatment.
Mr. Yang now suffers from tachycardia and hypertension. He was treated at the Jinan Police Hospital from November 27, 2014, to December 12, 2014.
Mr. Yang's mother, Ms. Liu Xiuzhen, was also sentenced. She is in the Jinan Women's Prison. After many rounds of torture, she developed severe lung problems. She is being treated in the Jinan Xikang Hospital.
