(Minghui.org) Fifteen-year-old Shuangshuang was recently dealt yet another blow – her mother, Ms. Chen Bingnan (陈冰囡), was sentenced to three years in prison on January 13, 2015. Her father and grandmother are still detained.
Shuangshuan has lived under the shadow of the persecution since she was born. In 1999 her father, Mr. Yang Feng (杨峰), lost his job for practicing Falun Gong. She was three when he had to leave home to find work in 2001.
At the age of eight, Shuangshuang was arrested with her mother and grandmother and held in a detention center. Her mother then spent a year in a forced labor camp. Now, at the age of 15, she again has to carry on without her mother.
Her parents and both of her grandmothers were arrested in early July 2014.
While in detention, Shuangshuang's maternal grandmother, Ms. Yu Guifang (于桂芳), was beaten and sustained head injuries. She has also suffered from high blood pressure and heart problems and is currently in critical condition.
Shuangshuang's parents and maternal grandparents became healthier after they started to practice Falun Gong. However, when the Communist regime started to persecute Falun Gong, the family began to suffer.
Her father, who had left home in early 2001, was arrested in 2003 and couldn't return home after escaping from a brainwashing center. Her mother was fired in 2003 and also had to leave home.
After being briefly detained with her mother and maternal grandmother when she was eight, Shuangshuang had to stay with her paternal grandmother while her mother served the one-year forced labor term. In 2012, she lost her maternal grandfather as a result of stress from the ongoing persecution.
