(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Meiling (李美玲) was arrested while selling noodles with her husband at Rizhuang Market on December 13, 2014.
Officers Liu Pizhong and others from Rizhuang Police Station conducted the arrest. Ms. Li was taken to Pudong Town No. 3 Detention Center in Jimo City. Her family was not allowed to visit her.
Planned Arrest
The morning of the arrest, a young woman walked up to Ms. Li's booth to buy some noodles. While Ms. Li weighed the noodles, the woman stood aside to make a phone call. A short time after, several police officers approached Ms. Li and arrested her. The woman posing as a shopper also helped the officers force Ms. Li into the police car.
The arrest was coordinated by the Laixi 610 Office.
Prior Persecution
After the Chinese communist regime started to persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Ms. Li appealed to the government for her right to practice Falun Gong. As a result, she was arrested and detained for more than 20 days. During that time, she was barely fed.
In December 1999, Ms. Li went to Beijing to appeal to the central government and was detained for more than 10 days. While telling people about the persecution in 2001, Ms. Li was arrested again and detained for 15 days.
One evening in February 2012, Ms. Li and another practitioner, Ms. Cheng Shufang, were stopped by officers from Rizhuang Police Station. One officer searched their bags and found Falun Gong flyers. Ms. Li was then arrested and detained for 15 days, and her home was ransacked. Police seized her computer and other items, which have yet to be returned. Furthermore, Ms. Li was not released until her family paid 2,000 yuan.
The following year, officers from Rizhuang Police Station went to Ms. Li's home to harass her many times and tried to force her to sign a statement guaranteeing that she would not no longer practice Falun Gong. These officers included Liu Pizhong, a new police instructor. To avoid further harassment by police, Ms. Li decided to leave home, often for long periods at a time.
One day in 2014, Officer Liu came to her husband, holding what he claimed to be an arrest warrant for Ms. Li. Her husband refused the paper and said his wife did not violate any laws. Liu threw the paper on the ground and left.
