(Minghui.org) Mr. Guo Zhenzhuo from Hexi District, Tianjin, is facing trial for practicing Falun Gong. The police filed charges against him after his release on medical parole shortly after a prior arrest in early October 2014.
Mr. Guo received the indictment issued by the Hexi District Procuratorate a month after being released, and was served a subpoena two weeks ago. He was told to report to the court and provide his fingerprints.
A lawyer from the Bureau of Justice offered to represent him, but was rejected because he was not allowed to enter an not-guilty plea for Mr. Guo. The upcoming trial has placed Mr. Guo and his family under a lot of pressure.
Most Recent Arrest
Mr. Guo was arrested on the evening of October 2 by more than ten police officers from the Xiaohaidi area. As he was being handcuffed, Mr. Guo shouted, “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” Many passersby stopped and watched as he was taken away.
The police later ransacked his home and confiscated more than 50 Falun Gong books, fliers and booklets with Falun Gong information, and pictures of its founder, Mr. Li Hongzhi.
Mr. Guo was interrogated the next day. He refused to answer any questions, and instead tried to explain how he had not broken any laws by practicing Falun Gong.
He was given a physical examination later that day and diagnosed with high blood pressure and symptoms of diabetes. Though the police forced him to take medication, the detention center still refused to accept him three times because of his symptoms. Mr. Guo was eventually released on medical parole after paying 5,000 yuan.
