(Minghui.org) Before she started practicing Falun Gong, my mother had a bad temper. She also had many health problems, and our house was filled with various medications and health supplements. She went to see several well-known doctors, but her health did not seem to improve.
After practicing Falun Gong, she followed the principles of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance” and became kind and considerate to others. She regained her health, too.
Our family of three used to lead a harmonious life, but after Jiang Zemin launched the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, our blissful life was shattered.
Days after the suppression began, my mother left home to protest the persecution. One day, several strangers came to our home and confiscated my mother's Falun Gong books and flyers. They also took away the cash that we kept at home.
My father's wages were withheld, and my mother was sacked from her job. She was placed under surveillance and could not leave the district we lived in without permission.
My mother was arrested and detained several times for her belief.
She went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong in 2000. Several months later, she returned home and told us that she had been arrested and locked in a detention center. She lost a lot of weight, and her body was covered in wounds. Later on, she told us she had been brutally tortured while in detention. We were heartbroken to learn what she went through.
My mother was arrested again at the end of 2000, when she went to the city. For a few months, we had no news of her. I was 13 years old at the time.
Subsequently, we learned that my mother was being held at a detention center. She went on a hunger strike to protest the abuse. The force-feeding by guards damaged her lungs. Nevertheless, the authorities sent her to a labor camp in early 2001.
Her condition worsened at the labor camp. My father insisted on sending her to a hospital for treatment when he found out that she was coughing up blood. The doctors diagnosed her with terminal stage lung cancer, and she was released on the brink of death.
Although she was allowed to go home, the authorities continued to visit her at home and monitor her movements. Through practicing Falun Gong, my mother recovered from her serious illness. We were extremely grateful to Falun Gong for giving my mother a second chance at life.
Just as she got a little better, my mother was again arrested for no reason and sent to a local brainwashing facility in 2003. When my dad went to see her, he said to the officials from the 610 Office: “She is suffering from terminal stage lung cancer. If anything happens to her, do you dare to take responsibility?”
My mother was released 15 days later. However, not long after, she was arrested in 2004 and imprisoned in a labor camp for one and a half years. Again, she was brutally tortured.
Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party, started the persecution of Falun Gong and is responsible for the deaths of many practitioners. He has no regard for human life and that is why I want him to be tried for his crimes. I want to seek justice for my mother, as well as tens of thousands of victims like her.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
