(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Xu was arrested at an airport customs counter in Harbin. She and her daughter were on their way to the United States on August 22, 2015, where Ms. Liu's daughter was to attend school.
She was arrested because she recently filed a complaint against Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese Communist Party leader who initiated the violent persecution of Falun Gong.
Ms. Liu was illegally held for 16 days. She and her 13-year-old daughter are now forbidden to leave China. Police also confiscated their belongings, valued at over 108,000 yuan.
Ms. Liu recorded the details of their ordeal.
Interrogated by Domestic Security Police
My name is Liu Xu, and I am 35 years old. I am a resident of Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. My daughter was going to attend school in the United States on August 22, 2015, but when we went to the airport that day, our entire family was arrested by officers from the Heilongjiang Provincial Domestic Security Division and the Harbin Police Department.
An officer from the Qizheng Police Station said that they got their orders from the provincial and municipal police departments because I mailed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin to the Supreme People's Procuratorate.
I was interrogated by different people during the entire day. They ransacked my home and confiscated all of our passports. This was totally unexpected.
I was handcuffed, and the officers jerked the handcuffs around to make it hurt; I felt as if I was going to lose my arms. I could not accept this treatment, so I began to shout that the police were persecuting good people. I shouted until I was hoarse. I struggled and still have bruises on my hands. I also lost my shoes.
My daughter watched me get handcuffed and taken away by four male police officers. Worse yet, she was also interrogated until midnight, causing her mental trauma.
Detention and Seizure of Property
I was taken to a detention center after midnight and held for 16 days. I was forced to sit on a “small stool” for five hours every day. At other times, I sat on the cold floor.
Our passports and many personal belongings are still in the hands of the Nangang Police Department in Harbin City. They refused to see me and did not answer my phone calls. The police station refused to give me a copy of the arrest warrant, because I did not sign it. That means I cannot sue the police bureau.
I demanded that they no longer prevent my daughter and me from going abroad and return all of my belongings, valued at over 108,000 yuan.
Reason for Filing Lawsuit Against Jiang Zemin
My family has endured a long history of persecution. As a Chinese citizen, I have every right to sue Jiang.
My mother was bedridden beginning in 1995, and her 72-year-old mother took care of her for three years. After my mother began to practice Falun Gong in 1998, she could get out of bed and no longer needed medications. Her recovery through the practice compelled me to learn Falun Gong as well.
My mother helped care for my daughter from the day she was born. But our happy lives were turned upside down when she was arrested and detained twice by Baiqing County Police Station officers, starting in 2010. Police ransacked her home and ordered her to give up Falun Gong.
Because she refused, the police planned to take her to a brainwashing center. She escaped before they arrived.
Every Citizen's Right to Bring Jiang to Justice
Falun Gong teaches people to follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and be good people. Jiang Zemin initiated the persecution of Falun Gong, destroying the lives of millions of practitioners. Bringing Jiang to justice is a Chinese citizen's right.
The freedom of belief is a basic human right guaranteed by the Chinese Constitution. He overruled the Chinese Constitution and disregarded human rights. I want to bring him to justice and reinstate the reputation of Falun Gong and all those who have been persecuted so wrongly and heinously.
Falun Gong is a wonderful practice. Most of us have a limited income but still want to be healthy. This practice is an alternative that not only saves money, but also helps people become good.
Background
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other members of the Politburo Standing Committee and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Communist regime established an extralegal security organization, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows its citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
