(Minghui.org) Mr. Wang Zhiyong used to run a shoe store in Dalian, Liaoning Province. He went to Zhongshan Square after work in 1996, where he saw a group of people doing exercises, and decided he wanted to learn them. He was touched by the sincerity and warmth of the man who taught him.
Soon after, he was told that someone at the supermarket was bullying his elderly mother. When he tried to help his mother, a man threw a wine bottle at him and hit his right eye.
Mr. Wang was taken to the best hospital in Dalian for emergency treatment. He was told that his retina was injured. A renowned surgeon operated on his eye to reduce the ocular pressure, and put in three stitches.
The wound healed, but he had lost vision in his right eye. Upon his discharge from the hospital, the surgeon said, “If your condition remains stable, there will be no further problem. Otherwise, there is a possibility of damage to the optic nerve.”
He became depressed and stayed at home. However, he practiced the Falun Gong exercises in his spare time.
“Each time I did the exercises, there was fluid discharge that alleviated the pain in my eye. The eye was swollen and sensitive to light. After a while, the eye stopped hurting,” he said.
The doctor said he was legally blind in his right eye, but his vision gradually improved. With persistent practice, his eyesight recovered completely.
This experience made him truly believe in Falun Gong and its principles of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”
