(Minghui.org) I was employed at a state-owned enterprise until it went bankrupt and I became unemployed. I subsequently opened a convenience store.
I went to the post office one day in early August to mail my criminal complaint and private prosecution complaint against Jiang Zemin, who launched the persecution of Falun Gong.
Two days after my complaints were mailed, I received confirmation, at around 7:00 p.m., along with the receipt acknowledgment, from both the Supreme Procuratorate and the Supreme Court.
Customers React to Suing Jiang
When customers were shopping at my store, I often showed them my complaint documents.
Many said to me that they had recently noticed on banknotes words such as “Suing Jiang Zemin” and “Restore Falun Gong’s reputation.” They had read text messages about bringing Jiang Zemin to justice, received voicemails about the number of people filing lawsuits to prosecute Jiang Zemin, and received suing Jiang flyers on major streets and small alleyways.
Many thought that suing Jiang was far-fetched, and couldn’t believe that what they were seeing or hearing was real.
The first question many customers asked me when they read my complaint was, “Where did you deliver your complaints to? The Supreme Procuratorate? The Supreme Court? Will they even accept your complaints?” This was a typical incredulous reaction I received when I told my customers where I had submitted my complaints.
I explained it to my customers as follows:
Our country originally used a case review system to determine if a complaint was admissible in court. The court would hold proceedings to substantively examine if it met the filing requirements, and then decide whether to accept or reject the complaint.
The review system meant, in a sense, that citizens were not able to fully exercise their right to sue, because the review stage could result in some complaints being deemed as not meeting the filing requirements, and be shut out of court, making it impossible for some plaintiffs seeking judicial justice to have any recourse.
The authorities have now changed the original case review system into a filing system. Effective May 1, 2015, a new rule was implemented, which reads, “Every case must be filed. Every complaint must be acknowledged.” In other words, the courts cannot refuse to accept any complaints from citizens.
I have therefore successfully mailed my criminal complaint and private prosecution complaint against Jiang Zemin to the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme Court respectively, and both have mailed back acknowledgment of receipt of my complaints.
I showed some doubting customers the cell phone message from the China Postal Service Information Center notifying me of the Supreme Procuratorate and the Supreme Court’s acknowledgments.
Some customers held a copy of my complaint in one hand, and my cell phone in the other, and read both very carefully, taking note of every detail, including the office and name of the sender, even the dates.
When customers learned that as of August 6, the number of suing Jiang complaints with acknowledgments had reached 134,000, many remarked that the lawsuits brought by Falun Gong practitioners against Jiang Zemin must be having a tremendous psychological impact on Jiang Zemin.
“Jiang Zemin is really not a very good man. The current situation of corruption in China is all his doing!” This was the general opinion and understanding of all customers who had read my complaints.
I said, “People here are saying that in Jiang Zemin’s era, an entire crop of bad guys has been nurtured and sustained in the Chinese community, but his greatest crime is the persecution of Falun Gong!”
I then explained the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution, even knowing that many people had heard it before.
Many people posed asked after reading my complaints, “Do you think Falun Gong can knock down Jiang Zemin by bringing lawsuits against him?”
I responded by handing them a truth clarification booklet, and telling them, “Jiang Zemin will ultimately have to face a public trial.”
They often asked, “May I take this (truth clarification) booklet home to read it?”
My standard response was, “Yes. Take the booklet, read it, and share with your families, friends, and neighbors.”
Customers Support Suing Jiang
“May I take a picture of your complaints with my cell phone so I can show other people?”
“Of course you may!”
“May I take a picture of the acknowledgment of receipts from the Supreme Procuratorate and the Supreme Court so others can see and read them too?”
“Of course!”
Among my customers was a very talkative forty-year-old businessman, who worked in commercial concrete construction and engineering.
I had clarified the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution to him before, and had given him Dafa materials and discs. I had also helped him renounce the Communist Party and withdraw from its affiliated organizations. He had also asked for the software to break through the government Internet censorship.
When he heard that I was suing Jiang Zemin, he came to my store and asked to see the copies of my complaints.
He picked up my criminal complaint and surveyed the personal information of the plaintiff on the first page. He also looked at the signature, the official identity data, and fingerprints on the last page.
He then took my personal prosecution complaint, found a quiet corner, sat down, and began reading.
After reading carefully and scrutinized closely all my complaint documents, he said to me, “I know that Falun Gong is suing Jiang Zemin. I also know what you said about the number of lawsuits received by the authorities by August 6 had reached 134,000. But I didn’t think you would sue Jiang Zemin yourself. I can’t believe I actually know a Falun Gong practitioner who has filed a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin!”
I’ve known for years a trade union official, who was a soldier in his youth. I had talked to him about Falun Gong and the persecution multiple times, and he knew that I had been sent to a detention center twice because I practiced Falun Gong.
He looked at my complaint documents and said to me, “Why don’t you let someone else do this thing. Why do you stick your neck out? What for? It’s not worth it.”
I replied, “With each additional person suing, there’s more added weight. An ocean is made up of individual droplets of water. The hundreds of thousands of people who are bringing lawsuits against Jiang Zemin, like me, are Falun Gong practitioners who use their real names and true identities.”
The trade union official gave me a thumbs up, and said with a sincere smile, “Right on! You guys and Falun Gong are right on!”
