(Minghui.org) When Ms. Bai Yun was tried for the second time on February 6 this year, her family noticed that she appeared very disoriented and weak. The court, however, refused to release her on bail.
Four days later, the 62-year-old retired teacher from Urumqi No. 34 Elementary School died in a prison hospital. Her body remains in a morgue.
Ms. Bai's death took place following her most recent arrest on April 28 last year. The local procuratorate approved her arrest on May 30, and Shuimogou District Court tried her for the first time on November 13.
Prior to her latest arrest, Ms. Bai once served five years in prison from 2007 to 2011. She was taken into custody again two years after her release, and was kept at a brainwashing center for more than 40 days.
Back in 2005, she was incarcerated at a detention center for 15 days.
Ms. Bai was subjected to these ordeals simply for being a practitioner of Falun Gong, a self-cultivation system being persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party.
