Additional Persecution News from China – January 21, 2015 (11 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 6 provinces. According to this report, 13 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 6 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Elderly Mr. Wang Weizhen Sentenced

The Zhongshan District Court put elderly Mr. Wang Weizhen on trial on December 26, 2014. Mr. Wang, in his 60's, was sentenced to eight years in prison. After being denied admission at a detention center for failing to pass the physical, he was taken back home.

2. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Gao Xiuhua Arrested

Ms. Gao Xiuhua was arrested on December 16, 2014. She was held in the Rizhao City Detention Center. This was the fourth time she was arrested since the persecution started in July 1999.

3. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Mr. He Jianzhong in Prison, No Family Visits Allowed

Mr. He Jianzhong was arrested on October 26, 2012. He was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Qilihe District Court on March 26, 2013.

Mr. He's family went to the prison asking to meet with him at the end of November 2014. The prison authorities refused their request on the grounds that Mr. He refused to be “transformed.” In early December, the family went to the prison again. The prison authorities again refused to allow them to see Mr. He, citing the same reason.

4. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Taiying and Mr. Li Yanjun Sentenced to Prison

Three lawyers defending Ms. Yang Taiying and Dr. Li Yanjun presented strong arguments during a second trial. Prosecutors had nothing to say in rebuttal. The Luzhou City Intermediate Court still upheld the original sentences. Ms. Yang and Dr. Li were each sentenced to four years in prison. Dr. Li is being held in Jiazhou Prison.

5. [Pingyuan County, Shandong Province] Ms. Yan Hongyan Arrested

Officers from the Pingyuan County 610 Office went to Ms. Yan Hongyan's home on the afternoon of January 14, 2015. They pounded on her door but failed to break in. They found her at her mother-in-law's home and arrested her.

To avoid being arrested, Ms. Yan stayed away from her home until January 13, 2015. She was arrested the following day.

6. [Dengta City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Cui Enyong Faces Trial; Mr. Wang Shusheng Sentenced

Mr. Cui Enyong was tried for a second time in the Liaoyang City Intermediate Court on January 20, 2015. Mr. Wang Shusheng was sentenced in the Dengta City Court to five years in prison.

7. [Yingkou City, Liaoning Province] Six Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Sun Wenqing was arrested by officers from the Lunan Police Station on June 9, 2014. She was tried a few days ago. She is now being held in the Yingkou City Detention Center.

Ms. Xiao Heyun was arrested by officers from the Xincheng Police Station on June 15, 2014. She is being held in the Yingkou City Detention Center.

Ms. Zhang Fuzhen, Ms. Hu Yanmin, Ms. Wang Guifen, and Ms. Sun Li were arrested by officers from the Xincheng Police Station on August 25, 2014.

8. [Pingliang City, Gansu Province] Ms. Ren Liqin Arrested

Ms. Ren Liqing, 60, was arrested in May 2014 for telling people about Falun Gong. The police searched her home and took Falun Dafa books and DVDs and collected a "fine" of 1,000 yuan. She was released 10 days later

9. [Tumen City, Jilin Province] Mr. Xu Jinyou Detained

Mr. Xu Jinyou is being held in the Anshan Detention Center.

10. [Changle County, Shandong Province] Ms. Dong Wenxiu Arrested

Ms. Dong Wenxiu, retired from the Changle Cultural Center, was arrested around the end of 2014.

11. [Luchuan County, Guangxi Province] Ms. Xie Huijuan and Ms. Zhu Xiaolan Detained

Ms. Xie Huijuan and Ms. Zhu Xiaolan was arrested by officers from the Michang Town Police Station for distributing Falun Gong materials in the town on January 15, 2015. Both practitioners are being held in the County Detention Center.
