(Minghui.org) As an elementary school teacher, I use every possible opportunity to tell students, parents, and my colleagues that the Chinese Communist Party is wrong in persecuting Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong), a self-cultivation system based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
The following is a summary of my experience.
Telling Parents about Falun Gong
Whenever parents came to school to check their kids' progress, I'd say, “To be a good student, one must first learn to be a good person.”
Parents usually concurred with me, and it became natural for me to talk about the consequences of the declining morality in today's society. They were very receptive when I next brought up the topic of Falun Gong.
They couldn't understand why law-abiding citizens are being persecuted for striving to be good people and following “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” Some of them even agreed to withdraw their membership in the Communist Party at the parent-teacher conferences.
Guiding Students to “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance”
I have dedicated a lot of effort to teaching my students the principle of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”
On the first day of school every year, I always asked my students this question: “What kind of person do you want to become by the end of this year?”
There were all kinds of answers. Some said they would be obedient, some said they would be good listeners, some said they would help others, and some said they would stop fighting with others.
I wrote the Chinese characters for “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” on the blackboard and told the students, “In the coming new year, let's be truthful, be compassionate, and be forbearing. From now on, let's all guide ourselves with these principles. How about that?”
I received a unanimous “Yes!” in reply.
From then on, we often discussed in class how to be a better person. A student openly told everyone that Falun Gong would turn any person into a good person and that a person would live a good life by following the principle of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” He also informed the class that people have taken up Falun Gong in more than 120 countries.
He said that his mother received this information from her cell phone. There was not a single trace of fear in his eyes.
Introducing Shen Yun to Music Teachers and Students
As a Falun Gong practitioner, I also tell people about Shen Yun all the time.
Shen Yun is a classical Chinese dance and music show. Their artists draw inspiration from Falun Gong and follow the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in their pursuit of artistic perfection.
Before I introduced Shen Yun to my students, I first approached the music teachers.
I always brought Shen Yun DVDs to faculty meetings and offered them to music teachers. I got a lot of good feedback from them after they watched the DVD.
One teacher said, “Shen Yun is so beautiful!”
Another teacher excitedly told me, “I've been bypassing the internet censorship for 6 years to watch overseas news. Thank you so much for the DVD! I have many friends who are writers. They all love the show!”
I gave her more information about Falun Gong, and asked her to give a DVD to her writer friends.
A music teacher played the Shen Yun DVD to her students at the end of every class. I asked her, “Aren't you afraid?”
She replied, “Why should I be afraid? Why shouldn't I show something so beautiful to everyone?”
Her courage gave me confidence to introduce Shen Yun to my own students later on.
The results were amazing when I started to play the Shen Yun DVD to my students.
A student exclaimed, “The gods are here! Is this real?”
A girl watched the show with tears in her eyes from the beginning to the end.
“Teacher, I really felt that divine beings are here. It's really an unmatched brilliance! I don't have the words to describe it.”
A girl borrowed a Shen Yun DVD after the class so that she could show it to her mother, who loved dance. Another girl also borrowed the DVD and watched it again with her grandfather. She told me that her grandfather felt like he was really traveling back to ancient times and seeing divine beings.
