(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Fan Yunqin was illegally tried by the Zhenxing District Court in Dandong City on April 8, 2015. Ms. Fan’s lawyer refuted all the charges, citing current Chinese laws, pleaded not guilty, and strongly requested her immediate release. The trial ended after an hour.
Ms. Fan was charged under Article 300 of China's Criminal Code with “using a cult organization to undermine law enforcement,” a charge routinely used by the Chinese communist regime to arbitrarily arrest and imprison practitioners nationwide as part of its persecution campaign targeting Falun Gong.
The evidence, recited by prosecutors from the indictment, were the same as those against her husband Mr. Sun Zhongren, who is detained at Liaoning Prison.
Ms. Fan's lawyer stated, “It is Ms. Fan, not her husband, who is being tried today. You made a mistake.”
Neither prosecutor responded.
Only two of Ms. Fan's family members were allowed to attend the April 8th trial.
Ms. Fan, along with her husband and son Mr. Sun Jiao, were arrested at home on November 25, 2013. Her son was released two days later, and her husband was sentenced to a four-year prison term. Ms. Fan was released on bail for medical treatment due to her high blood pressure. Officers from the Xianwei Police Station called her several times, demanding that she undergo another physical examination. She had to leave home to avoid further persecution.
Ms. Fan was arrested again at home at around 5:00 p.m. on November 5, 2014, by officers from the Zhenxing District Domestic Security Division and Taoyuan Police Station. They used a master key to open her door. She was taken to a hospital for a physical examination. Even though she was diagnosed with high blood pressure, measuring 210 mm Hg, she was nonetheless taken to the Dandong Detention Center and forced to take unknown drugs. Her blood pressure was as high as 160-170 mm Hg.
