Additional Persecution News from China – March 26, 2015 (17 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 9 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 16 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Detained

Ms. Zhang was arrested by officers from the Renminlu Police Station on the morning of March 24, 2015. She is detained at the Jinnanlu Drug Treatment Institute.

2. [Huanren County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Guo Liyan and Ms. Wang Renqiu Sentenced

Ms. Guo Liyan and Ms. Wang Renqiu were tried on March 17, 2015. Ms. Guo was sentenced to a three-year prison term and Ms. Wang to a four-and-a-half year prison term.

Ms. Tian Xiaoqin was arrested by officers from the Tanghu Town Police Station on March 24, 2015, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She is detained at the Yi County Detention Center.

Ms. Wu Yurong was arrested on March 25, 2015, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her whereabouts is unknown.

5. [Tianjin] Ms. Li Shimin and Ms. Zhang Arrested

Ms. Li Shimin and Ms. Zhang were arrested by officers from the Xiyuzhuang Police Station on March 23, 2015, for trying to rescue Ms. Deng Xiaofen. The police ransacked their homes.

6. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Yawen Arrested

Ms. Liu Yawen was arrested by officers from the Tiexi District Domestic Security Division and Gonghe Police Station on the afternoon of February 12, 2015.

Ms. Pan Xiaoqin, Ms. Pan Qingning, Ms. Xie Lihua, Ms. Tang Jingmei were arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division on the evening of March 23, 2015. The police ransacked their homes.

8. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Tian Xiuhua, Ms. Zhang Guilan, and Ms. Sun Linghui were arrested on the evening of February 1, 2015. They were taken to the Baishan Detention Center in Lanqi Village.

Mr. Liu Wang was arrested by officers from the Jiaoqu Police Station in Pingxiang City on March 17, 2015. He was detained at the Pingxiang City Detention Center for 10 days.

10. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Lei Persecuted

Ms. Wang Lei, 48, arrested in March 2014, was detained at the Beijing No. 1 Detention Center. She was transferred to the 999 Emergency Center of the Beijing No. 2 Detention Center in March 2015.

Ms. Wu Chunhua was arrested on the afternoon of March 10, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She has been taken to the Fengcheng City Detention Center.

12. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Mr. Jiang Hantong, Mr. Wang Shixian, Mr. Wang Guoyan were arrested on the evening of March 20, 2014, for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. They are detained at the Xiuyan Detention Center.

13. [Linxia City, Gansu Province] Ms. Jiao Huiying and Ms. Xu Shuling Arrested

Ms. Jiao Huiying and Ms. Xu Shuling were arrested by officers including Captain Wang Qing from the Domestic Security Division of the Linxia City Police Department at noon on October 21, 2014. The police ransacked their homes. They were taken to the Chengbei Police Station for interrogation and then to the Lingxia City Detention Center. They were released.

14. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Chen Liwu Tried

Mr. Chen Liwu, a power plant engineer of Tangshan Steel Group, was tried by Lubei District Court on March 24, 2015. The local procuratorate returned his case three times citing insufficient evidence, but the police still managed to have him put on trial. He remains detained since his arrest on March 13, 2014.

15. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Two Women Arrested and Tried for Helping Falun Gong Practitioners

Ms. Ye Liqing and Ms. Liu Hongxia from Dalian City, Liaoning Province were arrested last summer for helping a Falun Gong practitioner who was detained for her belief. They provided care for the practitioner's sick mother, as well as hired a lawyer to defend her.

Their simple act, however, resulted in their arrest. The Ganjingzi District Court held a joint trial to try them on March 19, 2015. Even though the prosecutor could not list any law that he claimed the women broke, the judge refused to acquit them. Both women remain detained since their arrest last summer.

16. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yi Qunren's Appeal Still in Review

Luzhou City Intermediate Court heard Ms. Yi Qunren's appeal against her four-year-sentence on March 16, 2015. The 48-year-old woman from Lu County was arrested on November 1, 2013 and sentenced one year later. Her lawyer pointed out the first trial violated certain legal procedures and requested a retrial. The judge from a higher court responded that they would have to consult with relevant departments first.

17. [Taoyuan County, Hunan Province] Ms. Wan Qiaoyun Transferred to Prison

Ms. Wan Qiaoyun, 68, was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong on September 15, 2014. The Taoyuan County Court sentenced her to six years of imprisonment at the beginning of February 2015. She was transferred to the Hunan Provincial Prison on March 5, 2015.
