(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lin Meifang, from Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, was illegally arrested at her home on April 13, 2015. She was arrested by officers from the Fuzhou City Domestic Security Division, and is being detained at the Fuzhou City No. 2 Detention Center. The attorney hired by her family went to visit her on the morning of April 22, 2015, but was not allowed to meet with her.
According to the “arrest warrant,” presented by Lin, a deputy section chief from the No. 2 Detention Center, Ms. Lin’s attorney is not allowed to see her unless he first obtains visitation approval from the department in charge, which is the Dongjie Police Station of the Fuzhou City Police Department.
When the attorney was not allowed to make a copy of the arrest warrant, he demanded to see the prosecutor from the No. 2 Detention Center. The prosecutor said that detained practitioners are allowed to meet with their attorneys, and said that he would coordinate the case. Ms. Lin's attorney replied that there was no need for the prosecutor to coordinate the case if it is legal for Ms. Lin to see her lawyer; the prosecutor should demand that officers allow him to meet with his client.
Ms. Lin's attorney then talked to instructor Huang Qichang about the case and called Zhang Qitong, director of the detention center, to report the situation, but after the first call, no one answered the phone. The attorney was not allowed to see Ms. Lin until noon that day. Under the intense pressure, Ms. Lin’s son, who works at the detention center, asked the attorney to go back and wait. The attorney refused.
It is believed that the director of the No. 2 Detention Center is illegally refusing the visitation because he is being pressured by the Fuzhou City 610 Office.
