(Minghui.org) After being detained for 421 days in the Huanan Forestry Bureau Detention Center in Heilongjiang Province, three Falun Gong practitioners were sent to Harbin City Women's Prison on April 15.
Ms. Zhang Fenghua, Ms. Cheng Shujie, and Ms. Wang Zhiqin were illegally arrested on March 19, 2014 for handing out information detailing the authorities' persecution of Ms. Cheng's husband for practicing Falun Gong.
They were tried on December 9, 2014. Ms. Zhang and Ms. Wang were each sentenced to three years, and Ms. Cheng Shujie to four years. Their appeals were turned down by Linqu Intermediate Court on March 26, 2015.
Their families were notified to see them on April 14 just before they were taken to prison.
Ms. Cheng's daughter and 70-year-old mother went to the detention center at 8:00 a.m. All three practitioners were in handcuffs and forced into police vehicles. Ms. Cheng's mother asked Lu Ping, the director of the police department, if she could give her daughter the hot food she had brought. Lu shouted and cursed at her.
Ms. Cheng's daughter followed the police vehicles to a hospital. Police officer Ji Hui saw her come in, shoved her out the door, and shouted, “What are you doing here?”
She replied, “This is a public place. Why can't I come in!” The women were allowed to stay for the practitioners' prison admittance physicals.
Their family members were allowed to visit with them at 9:00 a.m. The practitioners were taken to the Harbin City Women's Prison at 3:00 a.m. the next day.
Ms. Zhang Fenghua was taken to a hospital for a physical exam.
