(Minghui.org) The recent arrest of a man in eastern China shows how Falun Gong practitioners are being constantly monitored by China's national surveilance network, and are subjected to severe persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
When Mr. Peng Changguo used his ID to purchase a train ticket at the Linyi Railway Station last August, the computer identified him as a Falun Gong practitoner and issued an alert. Police and security guards searched him, and found a USB flash drive that contained Falun Gong materials. He was immdeately arrested and sent to a detention center.
After being held in the detention center for more than five months, in January 2015 Mr. Peng was sentenced to a three-year prison term. He is now being held in the Shandong Province Prison.
Mr. Peng, in his forties, is from Pengjiazhai Village, Linyi City, Shandong Province, and started practicing Falun Gong in 1995. He worked as a driver after he retired from the army. His friends and colleagues liked his warm personality.
The police attempted to illegally arrest him several times after the Party began perseucting Falun Gong in July 1999. To avoid the harassment Mr. Peng had to leave home and find work in another city.
Mr. Peng was about to get married, but was arrested at his home on May 22, 2012. The police ransacked the place and confiscated many Falun Gong informational materials. He was interrogated and subjected to intense brainwashing, then released after the police extorted tens of thousands of yuan from his family and fiance.
