Chongqing Police and Procuratorate Charge 70-year-old Ms. Xiao

(Minghui.org) The domestic security police and Procuratorate in the Yongchuan District of Chongqing recently charged 70-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xiao Shaogui.

Ms. Xiao was illegally arrested and tortured by police last year. Her left hip was fractured, and she still has not recovered.

Domestic security officer He Chengjun from the Yongchuan District Police Department and officials Chen Ping and Luo Jian from the Yongchuan District Procuratorate went to Ms. Xiao's home on March 15, 2015. Ms. Xiao still had not recovered from the hip fracture and was bedridden.

Officials presented her with the letter notifying her that the Procuratorate would charge her. They refused to give any further details except to tell her that she could hire an attorney.

Arrest, Broken Hip, Extortion

Ms. Xiao and practitioner Ms. Li Yuansu spoke to people about Falun Gong at Wenqu Road in the Yongchuan District on May 17, 2014. The women were then arrested by officers from the Xuanhualu Police Station.

Ms. Xiao fell at the detention center, breaking her hip. The police department and detention center consulted with the Chongqing Second Hospital and found out that the surgery would cost 70 to 80,000 yuan. To keep from paying for her treatment, the domestic security police notified Ms. Xiao's family members to bail her out "for medical reasons."

Ms. Xiao's family took her to the hospital. They also attempted to deal with the domestic security division and detention center regarding compensation for her medical expenses.

After the surgery, Ms. Xiao stuck to Falun Gong 's principles to be a good person, and she even persuaded her children not to submit a request for work delay compensation due to her surgery from the police department, despite her physical pain and mental anguish.

However, the police conspired with the Yongchuan District 610 Office and the Procuratorate to charge Ms. Xiao even while she was still recovering.

During this time, the court also sentenced practitioner Ms. Li Yuansu to three years in prison in July 2014 and sent her to the Chongqing Women's Prison on August 22. When Ms. Li went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, she was beaten.

Falun Gong practitioner Xu Xiaoqin was also sentenced to three years in prison and sent to the same prison.
