70-Year-Old Ms. Feng Xiulan Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison

(Minghui.org) Ms. Feng Xiulan, 70, was sentenced to seven years in prison in late November 2014, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong and being in possession of nearly 2,000 yuan with information about Falun Gong written on them.

Ms. Feng is being held in the Tianjin Women's Prison and is monitored 24 hours a day.

Her family was not allowed to attend the hearing at Nankai District Court. The authorities claimed that this was to prevent over-excitement and aggravation of her supposed heart condition and high blood pressure.

Ms. Feng was arrested in early May 2014. The police ransacked her home and confiscated DVDs, leaflets, and nearly 2,000 yuan in currency with information about Falun Gong written on them.

Her family was threatened and ordered not to disclose information about her arrest. She was held in the Nankai Detention Center for over six months.
